The guy that gave me a BOGO deal on the 6-series rods said he's willing to work with me to get in tune, but I don't think he's very happy with me because of, in his words, being "slammed" in the videos. I may reach out and see if they want to work together a bit and maybe we can see how it does if the carb is actually in tune since that sounds mutually beneficial. Not sure how they feel. I don't really see where I've been negative so much as being honest. Any negativity is my frustration because I have a lot of time and money in it and I can't use it without worrying about burning up another piston or being slow compared to my other carb.

I've tested carb sizes on a 90cc about 10 years ago. The larger carbs provided better cooling for me, but most of the gain there was from moving to stock 16mm to 19mm. With this setup, I'd rather not go smaller. 25mm works very well. The next size down for me is 21mm without buying more stuff. I suspect that it would work, but is likely a little small to be ideal. May be fine if I went back to the Peace Pipe or lower revving setup, because I've used a 21mm on a 103cc with the Peace Pipe before and that worked OK.

At this point, I think if you have something custom that any carb company doesn't work with a lot, then you just have to expect that it's going to need tuning and check out the cost of tuning parts to see if you think it's worth it. Ultimately, it's probably best to speak with the company directly before ordering and get their advice.

With respect to silencers/pipes, I'd love to see you also test the Giannelli Shot V4. The Malossi MHR you've got there is a rebranded (and grossly overpriced) Giannelli Reverse, which is the Shot't younger sibling - Malossi now no longer markets the MHR/Reverse, but the Giannelli Extra V2 instead, which is supposed to be more silent, and is actually very cheap! The Shot V4 came out a few years ago promising several enhancements, improved aquistic dampening being one of them. Yasuni R on the other hand, has been in sale for at least over 15 years now that I know of, but with no specified improvement upgrades. Personally, I have to go with a touring pipe because the sports pipes are too loud for where I live. Would pay handsomely to get the best of both worlds (that would be a nice project in itself, and who knows, maybe a Kickstarter project?) As far as carburetor tuning; have you considered trying out an AFR sensor to take the guesswork out of it? The idea sounds very appealing, and I'd love to see you try one out. And with regards to the Lectrons; the "Smartcarb" is supposed to be the new, improved version of the Lectron; apparently, it even comes from the same inventor! I wish they paid more attention to the small displacement mass-scooter market, and would pay handsomely if it did what it promises so I could retrofit it to my Piaggio w/Malossi 70cc sport. You would think that targeting this market also would mean higher sales volume which would drive down the price. But as you say, their focus seems to be directed primarily, if not almost exclusively towards the dirt-bike market, where it is reported to work very well.

Oh, please ditch the Lectron. I would get a nice Japanese carb and put that on there. Perhaps you could return the pulley you bought, and buy a bit larger one, and then the larger belt would work. Also, replacing the Chinese bearings with high-speed NTN ones might the pump last longer. I wish the head-maker would step up, and tweak the head design so that area O-ring won't fail--especially since you have 52,000 subscribers. Making an airbox that flows just as much as your KN-style filter might be an interesting project. The drive belt life is an issue, because you are making more power than it was likely designed to work with. It might even be slipping WOT. On the modern Vespa 150s and Piaggios, they increased the variator fan size at least once to give more life from the belts. It would be interesting to feel the air coming out of the transmission exit port to feel how warm it is. Like to ride it fast, stop put it on the center stand--and then rev it while feeling the air. The problem is: there's only so much room under the cover, and the cover is a structural part of the engine.
@49ccscoot

My fixed half fan fins are cut down slightly, because I don't have room for it otherwise. The front of the cover is pretty open. The back is vented. I could reduce heat with a skeleton cover or otherwise I'd have to have some force air setup. I'm not sure that the heads are an issue. It could have been me over-torqueing all along. This fail may be related to cutting the head down.

After a in frame top end build, working on the engine on a bench seem soooo much better, my 139qmb build, with 50mm bore, I have a naraku 52mm kitwuth pop-up piston and big valve head, that us ported and matched with a nibi intake, and naraku spacer, I can run a 20 mm carb or I have a 24mm carb, I'm going to try, I'm about certain it will require alot if work to get it running properly, I tested it, and it cuts out alot on the 81cc, but the naraku kit(at 52.4mm. ) with ncy cam maybe do better, I'm going to lighten the Piston as much as I feel safe, to help keep the balance, Maybe Someone makes a lighter pin? A titanium wrist pin would be nice, I also upgraded the head, that already had springs better than the NCY 11k rpm springs, but I added titanium retainers, it should easily spin to 12k as far as the valve Trane is concerned, but my problem is it stops running when hot it's crazy, I replaced everything, and adjusted the valves, what ever it's doing, it looses power after it quits , I have cleaned the fuel line, changed filters, changed carbs, 3times, changed the fuel pump, as well as co, CDI, spark plug, I'm running the $10 NGK platinum plug, or iridium what ever it is! When it stops at part throttle, it sounds like a two stroke! At idle, then started running normal, unless it's the stater or wiring, I have no clue! I have a adjustable ncy rear pulley, and the ball bearing spring seat, 7.7 gram slider weights, I think I need closer to 7 gram, with 1500rpm spring, and stock clutch springs, I tried stiffer springs but the CVT was shifting before it moved, but as far as the CVT goes, besides slightly lighter weights, I think it's about good, I do have gears to swap out, then start over, I'm about to just swap in a 150cc engine! P

Can't say I've heard of light wristpins for these. You can measure and see if anything may crossover from another application. Monitoring CHT would be good to see if it's getting really hot. You could upjet to see if it stops stopping on you. Tight valves could do it.

I never liked automotive carbs with metering rods. Lectron is supposed to be a no parts tuning carb, yet you have already accumulated more metering rods than you would jets. It seems it would probably work great if you where only tuning for a WOT race application.

@@49ccscoot I agree about larger=better for your setup, I mentioned pwk not because of its smaller diameter, you can get a bigger one up to 32mm I believe, but because it's a dirt cheap great alternative which requires almost zero tuning other than getting the power jet right, there are also polini cp carbs, from my experience they work the best and don't have "aging" effect like dellorto, by aging I mean over time dellorto's sort of start running out of their settings and become impossible to tune right again, brass used in them is what ages and causes the issue I believe

It's possible. 24mm is recommended by TPR. 25mm worked fine for me. I think a 30mm can be tuned for this. I would never pick a 30mm for it, but comments wanted me to try a big carb. The Lectron probably works great on a known setup like a 80cc-125cc name brand dirt bike. You’re just too special. But while I’m thinking about it, I saw the little kick stand you bolted on after the pipe came off prior to engine removal. What does it bolt to and is there plans to build my own on the 49cc website?
@49ccscoot
3 жыл бұрын
The stand goes where a center stand normally is. I can't use a center stand because of the exhaust. I didn't put any plans up, but it's just a piece of 1" square tube for the leg with 1/8" angle iron for a foot and a piece of 1/8" flat bar with 90 degree bends as needed to fit the center stand mounting area. If I had it to do over, or mod, I would make the footprint larger for stability.
