for as long as Lee's been making this mold you think they'd would be selling the wads by now

Nice! No keyholes! Will try your tail wads on my Lee 7/8 oz drive key slugs! Seems to group tighter than AA wads. Also a good backup for SHTF when I can't find regular wads anymore. Great vid! Thank you!

Great results with the tail wads. I mold the Lee 1 oz slugs too, I’ve kinda had to go off the books so to speak with my loads though. I was given a few pounds of Red Dot and I worked up a fairly accurate load with no pressure signs and moderate recoil. From my Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel I’m getting an average of 4” groups at 25 yds and about 6” groups at 40 yds at 60 yds they take flight and print way high, I haven’t found the sweet spot on the sight adjustment yet. New Rio primed blue hulls(Ballistic Products), 23 gr of Red Dot, nitro card, Win AA12SL pink wad, roll crimp. Haven’t chronographed them yet. Take care and keep up the good work my friend.

Thank you for the comment. I used Bullseye Because I got the load data on ballistic products website. I have to get back out and shoot more of them but I need to make up more tail wads.

I've been doing something similar with the 7/8 oz drive key. I use 12s3 wads and 20 gauge 1/4" fiber wads. I've tried it with a bit of duco cement holding the fiber to the slug, and without. I can't tell much of a difference with accuracy, but it sure does help not having two holes from the slug and fiber.

The Lee 7/8oz is an accurate slug to begin with I’m just trying to improve on it I should’ve shown the ones I had in the gun. You should never roll cramp shotgun wad slug loads. The pedals get trapped in the role crimp

@@maxxbear5014 do you know of a 12ga slug " sizing die " or ideas how to make one?

@@christopherpeterson1400 I just use a small piece of 12ga shotgun barrel I have. I make my slugs with 100% lead they go right thru.

@@maxxbear5014 yeah I get that, but I am talking about oversize casting, then sizing tight and concientrisity. To not " slide right through " as with most bullet casting 1-2 thou over bore dia then there is powdercoating and again precision sizing.. Just my thoughts and looking for sizing dies 12ga + and - actual bore dia varieties.

@@christopherpeterson1400 shotguns barrels are not made to stand up to pressures past the breach. They are to thin past mid barrel. You should only go with a slip fit and all barrels are not the same size. Older shotguns have smaller bores. My Remington model 11 is only .724

You could almost cover that group with your hand. That’s a great start IMO. Maybe back off the charge a bit and see if the group shrinks👍🏻

Very nice I think you're definitely on to something I'm new to Lee key drive slugs and I've been thinking about using some of the higher velocity bird shot to turn into slugs and put back in the shells would that be safe to do? I'm totally new to reloading and have just dip my toes into the key drive slugs
