#1 from 'Pensées intimes' (Intimate thoughts), Op.91 (1855)
------------------------------------------------
Phillip Sear plays a powerful but meditative piece by the French organist and composer Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély (1817-69)
--------------------------------------------------
Lefébure-Wély started playing the organ in public at the age of 8 (how could he have reached the pedals?). He is best known today for his popular organ 'Sortie', but his piano piece 'Les Cloches du Monastére' (The Monastery Bells) was once extremely popular. He wrote a fair amount of piano music, and the set from which this comes is one of his more serious works, dedicated to Liszt (no less).
