It’s easier to cut more evenly if you put the leg in the freezer for 30-45 mins. Any other unevenness you can pound out with a pot or even a mallet if you have one with a heavy plastic bag over the head if you don’t have one for exclusive use with food.

Thank you for this suggestion! I also am not a huge fan of the gamey taste of lamb. However, my local supermarket offered a good deal on lamb at half the price off, making it cheaper than the beef cuts that I usually buy. I came home with 4.5 pounds of lamb, wondering how I would temper the gamey taste. I tried it with the egg and it worked for me 🙂 Thank you! Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭.

Is carnivore difficult in the Philippines? I’m Betting there is lots of pork and chicken. Is the beef expensive?

I love lamb! I'd eat it every day if I could but it's too expensive. Aldi has great lamb chops and ground lamb.

I like lamb too. I eat so much beef, it’s nice to mix things up a bit.

Hi Jay, I happen to be eating roast leg of lamb as I watch this video... If the lamb is extra-cold, possibly partly-frozen it will cut easier. My lamb had large bones and I roasted it slow in my oven... I had some last night and then the rest of it I cut into slices and put into a large pot with the bones and extra lamb broth that I had previously made another time. I simmered it for about 4 hours today and all the meat just fell apart. It is like a "meat soup" and I have been having it a few times during the day. It will be enough for several days if I eat nothing else, but I may put some in the freezer for future use. I only added Redman's real salt to my lamb. It is so delicious and made into the meat soup it has less of a strong lamb taste that you mentioned.

That sounds delicious. Next time I’ll get one with the bone and try the soup!

I put my lamb leg in the oven just plain .. I just love it hot and fatty with lots of salt. I then have plenty of cooked leftovers in the fridge. For every meal for a few days I just cut off what I want, (no cooking for a couple of days which I love). Usually just eat that cold but it can be heated. When I’ve finished it my dogs are very happy for the bones lol

When i cut steaks i freeze the meat for an hour or two it firms up the meat for easier more uniform cutting ..

Do you add anything to it before you roast it?

@@Jaylwoodworth i poke it with a knife and insert garlic cloves, also I season it with salt and black pepper, and sometimes I also like to add few rosemary leaves, or slices of bacon , and splash it with some red wine, but those are all optional. 😊

For now I'm avoiding garlic and wine, but the bacon sounds like an excellent idea.

Have your meat much colder when you cut! The meat should not lean over while cutting FYI
