So, I think one of the most amazing things, despite everything about this video, and your other content, is that you're honest. You mean what you say. Looking on this page, every comment has a genuine response. Not just a 'K thanks", but a thought out response. You say in your video that you really do like reaching out, and being a part of the community, and you mean it. That to me, is worth its weight in gold. Not to mention everything else, and the amount of effort that went into making content. It certainly made me decide on going with Contax Zeiss lenses, and I currently have a 35mm 2.8 mmj, and a 50mm 1.4 aej. And I love them. I may have also spent too much money on tools to take apart, and care for these lenses...But it is worth it. Thanks for doing what you do, and I look forward to more of your content!

Thank you friend! I say friend because this is what friends do with their friends, share good experiences and knowledge. I bought the 85mm 1.4 and then the Leitax EF adapter, which was also as good as can be expected. I have used it on a Canon 6D and Black Magic 6k pocket... just incredible. This has opened a new avenue to pursue old Zeiss lenses and maybe even FD glass... I bought my lens from Japan which incurred a VAT and tax to Sweden of around 100 Euros, so shop in Europe if possible. I highly recommend Leitax but there are others too I guess. Thank you for your videos they are awesome in content and quality. Peace and love and Stay Safe!!

I got the AEJ version of the 50mm for cheap in an auction, but has a mark on the front that, doesn't affect the image in any way, bothers me so I'm selling that and trying to get a mint one as I'm seeing these as a lifetime investment.

The color and contrast of those Zeiss lenses are really unbeatable.
@MediaDivision
4 жыл бұрын
Well… pretty much all "better" modern lenses would be able to do that, plus post processing will give you that option as well. To use vintage lenses is more about getting some subtile character that is missing in "perfect" glas.
@marksummers5504
4 жыл бұрын
Media Division That’s the character I’m referring to. The higher contrast/micro contrast with the rich colors are what draws me at least. I’m a still photographer who rarely does video so using LUTS aren’t really my thing as is hours of post processing. The only modern glass that I’ve found that competes well are the GM lenses from Sony. But character apparently is subjective. I still shoot film occasionally and the Zeiss glass combined with the film stock has been hard to beat. I enjoyed the video. I’m certain it took much time and work. Nice job 👍

To be clear, many of the Contax Zeiss lenses CAN be adapted to Nikon F-- it can just be a little more tricky. I own the 28-85 zoom adapted to Nikon F with a Leitax adapter. You can check out the Leitax site for more info on lenses they've tested.

@@MediaDivision I don't know... We've seen some prices staying inflated for years cause of social media before :) "Olympus Mju" is the obvious example. But, I'm only half-serious. More informed people are the better chance that the manufacturers will adjust their engineering instead of adjusting peoples expectations and opinions. As for my lenses, I don't have the whole set yet :( ...cause I'm only using them on Contax RTS and Fuji. As I am informed these lenses were called - Zeiss High Speed. The Bspeed name is just another name that was created by people (users) for the first series of the lenses with triangular diaphram and tstop of T1.4. Name bspeed comes from the original mount which is Bayonet. First model was only available with this mount hence the name Bspeed.

That might be, but our research and Zeiss themselves referred to them as B-Speeds.

24:34… as you can see here on the blades themselves… yes. But in the image, they are way less apparent due to the smaller Bokeh and at only 3.5 you are going to shoot wide open a lot (and than there is non)

Thanks man... glad to have you around. The slower Contax Zeiss are fine lenses and have the same sturdy quality built... ideal for Anamorphic Adapters that don't allow to shot wide open anyway. Generally, I would go for the faster ones where possible, as the "vintage" look just isn't there at f/2.8. A modern lens would do the same job... probably cheaper and better.
