Lenny was "Old School" if he had a beef or was going to have a "Tear Up" it would be with another brawler or villain. When allegedly going on a job to kidnap a bank manager from his home Lenny refused to take part because the man was at home with his wife and family. Just as Lenny said he hated violence against women and children. Nowadays the mugs calling themselves hard men have no scruples and would attack women, children and pensioners and act tough instead of being a "Nonce" which these cowards are. Lenny was a terrific guy and in later years showed that he also had the talent to act and do it very well. Sadly ill health took him before his time. I would have loved to have seen more of him.

Im always torn between the two points of view. I mean lenny was from a tough time and litterally fighting is all alot of them knew. To me personally there is no honour in basing your life on being able to knock someone out or brag about the street fights. The honour maybe comes from the discipline it takes to achieve what lenny did in the un afiliated boxing world. Obviously a proud man training day in day out...we know boxing takes alot of kids off the streets and gives them a purpose and can really turn a persons life around. But then again alot of sports can do that.

Because to be a pro you need to first get licensed - Lenny has a record so he could have never got one - and you also need to be introduced to the sport at an early age and fight in your prime. He was simply never introduced to it on a professional level. He also had some issues growing up, ironically getting into pro boxing early would probably have been the best thing for him.
