My son and I are about halfway through this curriculum. The books we have enjoyed the most are Sky Sailors and Archimedes and the Door of Science. Both were excellent. We have done all the experiments and I would say the red cabbage pH indicator was the best so far. We have loved this curriculum and will legit be sad when we are done. We're spreading it over 2 years. Doing the chemistry last year and the physics this year.

That’s a fun way to do it! I think planning on spreading it out over 2 years is a good idea. Thanks for sharing your favorite books!

I have heard good things about Guest Hollow. I have bought curricula out of excitement, too!

Have you seen the youtuber My Practically imperfect life? She does guest hollow and wow.... the planning! GH definitely looks like it would be awesome, but I know it's planning intensive.

We are on week 3. We love it!! Watching all the videos and reading all the books as read alouds. I did buy the textbook but we don't do the experiments. Not doing any experiments for that matter. I'm doing it with a 3rd and 7th grader.

Awesome! I literally just got our first Max Axiom book, so I feel like we can start week 1 :) we’ve already started the videos and are enjoying those, of course!

I like to look at book lists and choose books that are suitable for my kids!!! We try to avoid test books!!! We love our book of centuries!!! I have one who does it on her iPad!!! I hate those table schedules and I like to keep it flexible!!!

I have heard of people who hate the table schedules :) I really like them, but I don't feel bound by them. Definitely always works better when we are realistic and pick books our kids will like, isn't it? That's such a cool idea about your daughter and her iPad for her book of centuries.

I'm so glad you made this video! We have just started the textbook here, and the first week had some frustrations. I'm looking at the schedule for this curriculum, and considering adding it. Could you tell me: How many weeks long is this curriculum? What textbook pages are covered in week 2? And how many Try this experiments are scheduled for week 2? Based on their week one sample, just having them pick out the Try This experiments, and breaking science up over more days/smaller chunks would be worth buying the curriculum. But I feel like I need a second week added to the picture.

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool Thank you! One more question... how much of the core text is covered? For example, if they go in order (rather than jumping around) what pg numbers are covered in the last week of the curriculum?

Do you enjoy this more than the anatomy one? I tried to do the jr one this summer but it felt too much for me since I have a lit based history and am doing GH's LA one as well.

Honestly, we are just getting started. So I have no official opinion on this yet. We are are concurrently continuing the Junior anatomy and will be adding back in GH’s High school geography as well. I feel like this one (even with cutting out the main text), will be a bit more than the Junior anatomy (which we can do 2 days of work in each session pretty easily while skipping the larger books).

So you didn’t use the creations book? Did you just read the literature as your “spine” each week? This may be what I do so it’s not so overwhelming and curious how it worked out!!
@CalmintheChaosHomeschool

That is exactly what we are doing. We are just reading the additional books, doing some of the suggested kits, and watching the videos. It is more than enough for us to complete :) I will say, it is a bit more disjointed without the spine text... more like we are learning random facts about chemistry and physics. But, that's OK. We are still learning a lot.

@@CalmintheChaosHomeschoolit says grades 1-6 but my son has dyslexia and adhd - I would be reading most of it aloud - but do you think it may be better to wait until grade 6? I’m going over it and trying to decide if it may be a bit overwhelming just yet 🤦🏼♀️😅

How do you start a playlist on KZitem? Or do you just add the videos to a folder on your bookmark bar in your browser?
@CalmintheChaosHomeschool
Жыл бұрын
So… the kids videos are a bit harder to do, but I’ll try to explain the process. I open the link and under the video there is a save or share option. For kids videos you will need to click share and copy the link. Then you need to go to your KZitem home page and start a playlist. Click on the playlist and find where there are 3 dots. Click and select add video. Paste the link and continue and it’s added. If you want a short video on how to do that,feel free to email or find me on face ok and send a pm :)
