@@BornCG Seriously, keep it up as an indie dev (Programmer with Max experience), your thoroughness is greatly appreciated in addressing blender's quirks. Especially when you mention the keyboard shortcuts you use. Too many tutorials are for old blender's UI and shortcuts. As a 2.9X+ version user thank you.

Thanks for the tutorial, for those who can't find Auto Smooth - in new versions (4+) it was replaced by "Shade Smooth by Angle" pressing RMB on object. And you can adjust the angle in the menu of last action.

I have watched multiple Beginner and Intermediate Tutorials and was confused at the different techniques everybody used to basically do the same thing but nobody explained why or which is the best option in certain instances. Thanks to you, I start to understand. I love your Blender Beginner series and how thoroughly you explain all the tools. This makes me able to decide what to use on my own depending on the project, instead of just relying on tutorials for each and every thing. Thank you very much, Colin! 💫

great videos! probably the best blender tuts on YT ever watched yet. Great series even though i work with blender almost 2 years to make 3d print vehicles. But i learned some small but sometimes so damn useful tricks. Thats why i started to watch the whole series :) Sometimes i spend hours to do something, then i saw you do that with 2 klicks... i was like.. WTF was that?! how many hours of my life did i waste... :(

Great video but I have a question about the Sharp Edge. Does it only work in "Auto smooth mode"? I've shaded Monkey head using "Smooth" without ticking the "auto smooth". I've selected a few things with sharp edge but it doesn't work. It only works when I tick the "auto smooth" box and up the degree count to like 90. Shouldn't this work in normal "smooth mode"?

hi!!, What is better aproach to use in video games? I understand the weight of vertices and tris in the performance of the video games but flat edges just looks very bad and unreal. Or its just a matter of find a "balance"??... I'm a programmer not a 3d model designer.

How do you undo crease edges without ctrl z? Or you can't? Like what if I creased my edge and an hour later I wanna undo that? explain if you can pls
@BornCG
2 жыл бұрын
If you want to modify the edge crease factor applied to a specific set of edges later, you can always select those same edges again after, press shift-E (edge crease), and then move your mouse to/from the object origin to change the edge crease factor, even back down to 0. The bottom-left 'last operation' pop-over may help you to get it all the way back down to 0.

As a side note, as someone who's done a lot of hard surface stuff via the box model, wherever I need to make a cylindrical object with subdivision surface, I will make a cylinder with eight sides and no faces on either end, make one vertex at both ends of the cylinder, then make four faces with each face comprising three vertices along the edge of the cylinder and the vertex at the center. Hopefully that is descriptive enough. Also, when it comes to the box model and subdivision surface, edge loops are your friend in controlling how far round or sharp a corner will end up. The bevel tool is easy to use, but could end up creating headaches when it comes to uv mapping and other processes necessary to make a model useable in a game engine or elsewhere.

Do you know programming basics? Do your best to break down bigger games like that into very small pieces. Like: "how do I program a simple inventory system?" (even that's a fairly big endeavor!).
