It would save fighters so much time and hassle (and probably be quite beneficial for their health!) if the rules were just changed for them to fight at their weight class, i. e. one weigh in beforehand, one directly before the fight.

Agreed! Better for health, better for performance but a lot worse for promoters. Imagine the amount of fights cancelled due to missed weight the day of the fight.

Do you have any tips for protecting your ribs or countering/punishing shots to ribs during competition or sparring. I tense when I take body shots and can usually withstand it, but its happened two times now where someone has cracked with a hard shot to the skinny area where your ribs are and I've had to go down. Both times I felt pain in my ribs for almost two weeks after the shot which effected my training.
@relativelybasic

You have to brace, breathe out, and use your elbows to take some of the force. As Gabriel Varga always says, keep your elbows tucked and firm tight, small movements to block body shots. And also don't spar that hard (unless you're training for a fight)

in addition to. But you're drinking A LOT so I assume you're already using the toilet very regularly. its all about upregulating the hormones that cause you to pass water, so that when you suddenly stop drinking you continue to pass water for a while.

You're a veteran in the game but in my opinion you're doing it the hard way. If you're naturally 163 lbs then why not walk around at 160 or even 155 so u can cut less than 10 pounds come fight day. I'm naturally 5'11 185 lbs. I can easily walk around at 175 & during fight week, not FIGHT DAY go to 170 for mma welterweight division or 168 for super middleweight division in boxing or 175 for light heavyweight in boxing. Fighters be all dizzy and quite LITERALLY killing themselves for this false weight advantage in the ring and in the cage. You're depriving your body of all this water that's essential to your survival, feeling dizzy in the process, and you seem to think that gives you an ADVANTAGE? First of all, 99% of fighters cut weight so who are you having an advantage over. If I don't cut weight like that I'm the only 1 with the advantage, not to mention you're also depleting water from your brain. Your brain needs way more than 24 hours to recover from this process. So then as a result instead of having enough time for your brain to recover u go ahead and get punched and kicked in it NOW?😅🤣😂. Just foolish man. I'll debate anybody on this topic. Fighters gotta worry about losing all this weight AND then fighting. I'll go the intelligent route and just focus on the fighting.

Unfortunately in environments like UFC for example, you will have an enormous disadvantage if you don‘t cut weight because weight cutting is highly encouraged there like Gabriel said. You can‘t tell my you have never felt the mass difference when your opponent cut much more weight than you
@TheGhostVillain
Жыл бұрын
@@MuayThaiGuide This ENORMOUS difference in weight u speak of is not so significant that u just become weak, defenseless, outmuscled & outstrengthed. Fighting actually isn't even about size as much as it is about skill, technique, experience, IQ & toughness. Also the UFC nor ANY man or organization in the world cannot MAKE u cut weight. Your coach might encourage or recommend u 2 cut down as low as possible but at the end of the day u have the final say just like nobody can MAKE u fight. In FACT if you're struggling to make weight by cutting all this water weight & u happen to fail a couple times only then will you b forced to move up in weight. Majority of fighters don't even truly believe in themselves anymore. Let me tell u a FACT young man. ANY MAN that weighs at least 155 pounds can beat ANY OTHER man no matter the weight. That's how me & my friends used to beat up 250 pound bouncers at nightclubs in Alaska while I weighed anywhere from 160 to 175 at any given time, my friends being lower than me in weight, that's how I used to work as a bouncer at a bar & rag doll men who were twice my size, that's how I sparred men that were 6'4 at my mma gym. U keep having boxing legends like Mike Tyson telling u & I quote that "size has 0 significance in a fight whatsoever" & Floyd Mayweather saying "I never cut weight for a fight". Even Devin Haney as small as he is telling Bradley Martin that he wouldn't stand a chance against him in a boxing match. Weight only becomes important when either A) you're extremely undersized as a man like 125,135,145 or B) you don't possess the skills to defeat the larger fighter. Skills obviously being very vast & multi faceted. I've studied this game since 2009 when I was a freshman in high school bro. I know what I'm talking about. I was only born a couple months after the UFC was established. I been in the gym sparring former & current UFC fighters. Getting beat up by guys 30 to 40 pounds lighter than me. Teenagers even & also being on the other end. Dismantling guys weighing 50 pounds heavier than me in a daily basis. Honestly the biggest guys are the easiest to fight. They're slow as hell. Even Jon Jones was slow in his return fight against Ciryl Gane.

@TheGhostVillain your missing out the POV of the industry. I am a female pro fighter in Thailand and if I don't cut weight there is nobody in my category. If I want to make a living and fight every month, I have to go in 2 categories under my normal fight weight in Europe. Sport is not just about science, its also a business. The match making is the key of it all.

What is there to differentiate between taller and smaller guys when kicking? Both need balance. You can get balance if you dont lean back too much while kicking, have the right distance while kicking (hitting with the bottom part of the shin) and also use your hips, twist your standing foot with the kick, of course the more flexible you are the more control you have of your kick.
