Always fun to watch silver being poured. Good rule of thumb since gold is around twice the atomic weight of silver you can typically make twice as heavy of a bar with the same size mold. Inversely if you have a mold that you know you can make a 10oz gold bar in, then you should probably be able to make a 5oz silver bar in the same mold.

I always allow a 1% "loss" from crystal going to a bar. I think this could be the sulphide boiling off or perhaps there is moisture trapped within the crystal structure... Also small bars is the way as you only ever get a percentage of the perfect with no outgassing.

Awesome pours there Sir Sreetips! I love pouring bars! So glad to see you using the brazing tip. As a welder of many many years, I like seeing the right equipment being used the way it is intended. Cutting torch is used for cutting. In which case it uses more gas and oxygen. The brazing tip is used to melt material, using less gas and oxygen. Hence, more cost effective. Did you like the performance of the brazing tip as opposed to the cutting tip? Also, I have found that instead of having the mapp heating directly above the cavity and the pour, I adjust the tip to where it is heating just the graphite mold. I don't get the hazing on the bar from the mapp hitting it directly. Bars turned out beautiful. Your stamping is impeccable! Thank you for all you do!

And a whole lot cheaper as well. I am still pouring and using a Mapp alternative called GCX. It is no longer available so once I get the last of this 100 lb bottle emptied I am going to introduce oxy/propane to my pouring bench. It is much hotter than the Mapp. I sure have enjoyed this visit with you old friend. I will try and make it far less time before finding you again my old friend.

Here’s what I do: store my wealth in precious metals that are increasing in value. I don’t store wealth in paper, that can be printed into existence out of thin air, in dollars that are declining in value faster than a snowball melting in July. If I need some fiat paper to buy food or pay rent, then I sell a little of my metal. This is a strategy used over thousands of years and it always works. Fiat has a 100% failure rate over that same time period. Gold and silver are real money. Why? Because they can’t be printed into existence out of thin air. Stay safe my friend.
