Since you say casually, i would say this as a former directioner. Liam had the most lines/verses in the group, he's usually in the middle and says the most in interviews and pressconferences. He pretty much is their leader at the forefront. But behind the scenes its Louis who took care of the band. Harry considering the main vocalist and most charismatic, hence being often the main focus in media appearances. You wouldnt even pay attention to Zayn if he was in the headlines for his relationships or scandals but to the fans we always respected him as a good vocalist and a loved member.

The things he usually says when he talks about his ex band mates doesn’t give jealousy. Obviously he wasn’t at his best in that last podcast, but it’s just ONE podcast amongst hundreds were he’s spoken positively about his ex band mates. If we’re applying maths, then when faced with one out of a hundred odds, hundred wins. I just think people are being overly harsh on him, mostly Harries or Hairballs, cos they think for some reason the person who threw Liam against a wall was one of the members of the band (Harry). But honestly that doesn’t seem likely at all, Harry comes across as really sweet. AND Liam clearly said a ‘member of their team’ did it, if I’m not mistaken Rebecca Ferguson has spoken about this on twitter. Celebs that we like have to be held accountable sometimes, but directioners tend to hold Liam responsible if he breathes and with this matter it’s gone beyond holding him accountable into bullying. Personally, I’m just not gonna support physical and mental abuse just because someone said a couple of things I don’t like. I also want to slap the smugness out of white people who say white people are trash: stop the pandering! Does that mean I will drop them immediately the way I probably will a homophobe? Nah, because there’s levels to ignorance, hate, and the impact they have. Saying shitty things about white people is meh: the power structures of society ensures they’ll be fine. Saying shitty things about men is also meh: we’ll be fine, again because of the power structures built for generations upon generations. Saying shitty things about queer folk: not so meh. We still have broad swathes of the population that go to churches whose pastors say things like the government should kill homosexuals, that homosexuals are pedophiles. And these opinions become law: we still have adoption agencies legally allowed to not let homosexuals adopt kids, and we have literally passed legislation saying (among other things) that gay teachers can’t talk about their spouses the way straight ones can. As a massive One Direction fan from 2012-2018, I can confirm that the Duck Dynasty tweet was the beginning of Liam's downfall, at least in the part of the fandom I was in. I went to their concert and my mom even noticed fans didn't cheer for him as much as the others and asked me why, and I told her about the tweet. It was in huge contrast to the feminist and LGBTQ+ values that Harry was showing and I remember at the time a story about Louis asking for a fans pronouns was going around. While I agree that their albums continued to have more rock influence as time went on, they were definitely NEVER a rock band. People like to write 1D off because their fans were considered primarily teenage girls, but this is such a deep societal misogynistic view that even the fans were pretending 1D wasn't a pop band to try to justify their interests to other people. When their third album came out, fans were saying it was an Indie album....... no it was a pop album with rock/indie influences. I believe Liam was the initial front man, if you watch their X factor performances, Liam is the least awkward, conventionally handsome (ie. had the trendy Justin Bieber haircut) and had a polished voice, but this did not last long. Harry became the favourite when their first single came out and that was the end of it. I think Liam had the reputation as the "good boy, the "responsible one" and ultimately the "boring one" which has given him great insecurity and since then he has tried everything to get away from that image, and his entire solo career is based on his insecurities and trying to prove people wrong. The entire Logan Paul interview is his insecurities coming to the surface and him trying to blame his commercial failure on his bandmates.

See I never saw Liam as the leader, like ever. I always kind of saw Louis as the leader, but not necessarily on stage but more behind the scenes if that makes sense. Like for me, Louis was the one that kind helped everyone behind the scenes and Harry or Zayn were the frontman on stage, more so Harry I think just because he was so charismatic on stage. Liam was just so boring and always seemed like he’d rather not be there, or he would get almost too involved but in a super obviously fake way. One of the reasons why Liam and Louis did not get along at first. Because both wanted to be the leaders but comparing the two of them, Louis def would be a better leader in the band. As someone who’s a fan of 1D - it makes me so sad to see the road Liam is going down. I hope he learns to surround himself with people who are honest with him, and also a therapist. He just seems so confused and upset about who he is and what he wants to be.

It’s weird he says he’s the “honorary” member, because he probably doesn’t see himself as an actual member of the band with the same obligations. He could have meant it differently who knows but I just thought it was funny he described himself that way.

Talent make singers but personality make stars. He always made it seem as if he was above meeting fans, taking the time to appreciate a crowd or care for anyone else by any means. That’s why he is forgettable, the hateful mentality and controversies were just the cherry on his joke of a career. (Ps. Love you Cid 💕)

tbh before all this liam shit happened I binge watched quite a bit of their performances just because I wanted to see how they performed and what their group dynamic was since I wasn't a 1D stan and I could see that he was trying to stand out with his gestures nd by playing into the crowd but could never really pull it off with his confidence in the stage presence that he never really had. I think Liam feels entitled to the amount of success he sees the other band members reaching. He might’ve started out as one of the best vocalists of one direction, but as everyone else grew and improved significantly, it felt like he wasn’t keeping up. Even as the group became remolded into making Harry the ‘new frontman’, it seems that Liam never lost his mentality of thinking he’s still the core of what made one direction all that it was. Sure, he can sing great falsettos, but that doesn’t matter if he isn’t able to find a way to connect with an audience through songwriting and other ways (something the other boys have succeeded with). It’s unfortunate seeing this raw talent and potential never getting to go anywhere :/

I just did a small look into his homophobic behaviour and just yikes. I've never known too much about the 1D guys aside from really Harry since he's been doing well himself, but just absolute yikes for Liam. He's that very casual homophobe that would just go "it's just my opinion" or "I just don't get it. It doesn't mean I'm homophobic." Sounds just like my best friend's dad where he says he doesn't care if someone is gay, but then goes on a rant for how weird it would be to have a gay, feminine son and it would be a lot for HIM to handle. Also I always thought Harry was the lead man of the band 💀 like he always just seemed to fit that role. Even with how little I knew from my friends being fans or when I listened to a few of their songs. I'm learning some stuff today.

What Makes You Beautiful is one of the most iconic pop songs out there. I'll never forget one time in my high school senior year right when the song came out, making my french teacher put up the music video on the smartboard at the end of class. all the girls (myself included) swooned like something out of a teen movie. High school sucked but that's a cute positive memory I'll always have.

This made me smile, just the sort of thing I do too. Dyslexia is pretty misunderstood, it is most often spoken about and presented as letters moving, but that is just one way dyslexia can present. Dyslexia is any reading/spelling issue that persists even with adequate schooling and tutoring. If you are able, it might be worth being assessed :) From a fellow dyslexic XD

I think that Liam is jealous of the rest of the members success (specifically Harry) which has made him insecure about his own identity in the band. For example, he’ll bring up one direction more than any other member and say they’ll get back together as a way of staying relevant. Or bringing up drama that is irrelevant. It just seems to me that he is full of himself and has deep rooted insecurity issues since beginning of One Direction.

I was and still am a big Louis fan. I was at Harry's concert this year. You just notice that now everyone has found his style, while Louis is more into the alt, pop-rock track, Harry is more vintage pop. Liam I have always had as Louis friend on the screen. And of course as someone with a drinking problem. It's only now that all this 1D time is over that it becomes clear what a horrible time it was for the boys personally. While Zayn slipped into an eating disorder and he and Louis smoked extremely heavily, Liam apparently drank alcohol constantly. With a busted kidney. Of course that doesn't excuse any of his actions but I think you should take that into account. Otherwise, unfortunately, Liam was not the one who stood out. He said a few months ago in an interview that he was forced into therapy, although he was not ready. Of course you can understand that as you want. But I am sure that he will never again achieve such fame as in the 1D time, because he still faces a pretty big journey. Away from alcohol and wanting to be famous, towards self-healing. You can only wish him the best and that he will eventually realize his mistakes and problems. You can see right now how bitter he is about the fact that everyone else has better success. Right now he has become very unsympathetic to me personally, while Louis and Harry (I'm sure Niall and Zayn too) create a comfortable atmosphere where everyone is welcome, Liam has this bitter aftertaste of an abandoned ex-partner. I have and will not continue to follow him when he makes statements like that. One can only hope that he will change at some point.

Liam Panye can still be argued to have been the best singer in one direction simply based off experience, control, technique, and some other things. He did not need much autotune but it obviously helped! He was born to sing as a passion and he forced it into a dream. Not an ounce of his identity or star quality formed ever and that is why all he had to form his ego and personality for these past 10+ wa this position in the group (especially on the x factor) as you mentioned. By not focusing on himself and getting a little selfish like any human being should, he fueled every single member of the group besides himself. Now he resents his position and takes it out on everything he comes across. I am a former 1D stan with a literal tattoo that includes a symbol for him lol I don't care to hate him but I don't solo stan him so I don't care to actually sympathize or rationalize his actions. Like if I could word this another way, he's a FOOL! I haven't even gotten into the actual TEA about why he's a flawed PERSON. Back then i definitely sympathized with him bc of his alcoholism and I still do but fuck that he's literally WEIRD this is just 1 thing about him!

hey:) this video popped up on my home page and just wanted to say that i truly appreciate the way you presented the information and your thoughts on it, respectful and calm, making it a safe space for further discussion. so- some thoughts: after becoming a fan (two years ago) and getting into the "conspiracies" I was fascinated with the music industry, marketing, manipulating information etc. A bunch of evidence and inconsistencies point to the bandmates not having full control over their social media accounts, so while finding Liam's comments distasteful, ignorant and heteronormative, I honestly don't know wether it was actually him and, tbh it's frustrating and confusing. looking annoyed while taking photos with fans comes across as rude and ungrateful, but I do understand it can be draining , having to do that. still, not a good look... what he said before girl almighty was ignorant, but the worst part for me is the refusal to take any accountability. instead of learning he (or his twitter acc) dismissed the critics and never admitted to his faults. pride flags at concerts are so fucking important to lgbtq fans so his remark there is tone death and upsetting. around 2014 some fans started the project "rainbow direction" to make the fandom a safe space for pride and support, the project became so large it got media attention and permanently changed the fandom to this day. dismissing it as just for a theory about Louis and Harry saying it "drives me insane" is so self centered it makes my blood boil. (and I'm saying it as a person who believes in that theory). I became a fan two years ago and this environment helped me find and come to terms with my sexuality, showing up to louis' concert with a flag, waving it like crazy in a sea of flags all around was fucking incredible, and louis welcomed all of it. p.s. I know it is a mess i had a lot of thoughts, liam talked about struggling with alcoholism and kept drinking the whole episode, so his answers might've been affected by it. also louis is my fave, brings me so much comfort he's lovely

Except Liam wasn’t speaking about pride flags, he was speaking about the flags with ‘Larry’ on them, that doesn’t make him homophobic or insensitive. If Harry or Louis are indeed gay, then they should be allowed to come out on their own terms.
@hskingdommm2597
2 жыл бұрын
okay look, I disagree with Liam on many things, but rainbow direction is the one he was for sure right about. here is his direct quote: “When the laws changed in the U.S., there were loads of rainbow flags flying at our shows, but I think that was mainly because people think of the Louis and Harry thing, which is absolutely nuts and drives me insane”. "It's when you know the ins and outs of what's going on with people it's just annoying when it's so stupid. It becomes like a conspiracy or like a cult, the people who watch them and think that every move is like a gesture toward them being together and I know it's just not true and it makes me mad," the thing is that ALL founders of rainbow direction were larries. this project always was larrie-friendly, not queer friendly. every time queer non-larries expressed discomfort with pride flags being connected to larry, aka a support or belongings lgbt+ community to homophobic conspiracy theory (by photos or tweets of L and H printed on flags, for example) they were called by founders hets or told that they secretly want to fck Louis and Harry. same thing with current rainbow project on Louis’ shows. (Harry’s concert are filled with conspiracy theories to a much lesser extent and bringing pride flag is in no way means you’re one, so I’m not speaking about him). do some people bring them solely because they supports lgbt+? yes! however, the majority brings them because they are larries as a way to signal Louis and the others that they are and to feel validated. I am queer and I won’t bring pride flag to any of Louis’ shows because I know it will be preceived as “I think your girlfriend of 10 years is paid to pretend to be with you and the son you love deeply is fake” you have admitted yourself that you are a larrie and brought the flag. so why is Liam’s assumption about it being mostly larries bringing them is wrong? you say it’s actually to create a safe space for queers at concerts, but why, just why, it would feel unsafe for you, a person from lgbt+ community, to be at Louis’ show without tons flags being there? would you feel unsafe at Niall’s show? I doubt so. and how many pride flags you see there? not a lot. so no, from the very beginning bringing flags was a way to make larries feel safe, not queer fans. you said Liam’s comment “makes your blood boil” but how do you think he’s the only one in the band having this opinion? you think Liam went out of his way shitting on larries, calling it a cult and harshly ridiculing it, but left the interview and kept being Louis’ best friend. if Louis is a closeted gay who was with Harry since 2010? let me remind you that Louis was even harsher in his perception of larries, saying that their beliefs are “worrying”, and bat they ruined his friendship with Harry, adding that it grates on him daily and even puts him off twitter, called them “crazy lunatics” and “not real fans”. so Idk why you concentrate on Liam’s words when they 1) are true, 2) not as harsh as Louis’. you see that’s great that larrie helped you come in terms with your sexuality. I’m genuinely happy that you did and congrats on that. but facts remain unchanged: it’s a deeply problematic conspiracy theory rooted in misogyny, anti-semitism, homophobia and mlm fetishism

@@hskingdommm2597 the person who started rainbow direction made it a point to sperate itself from discussion of theories and relationships, from the beginning they made it clear- that the project is meant to support LGBTQ+ fans and make it a safe space. I've had a 1D phase and Liam was my favorite member and 10 years ago I went to a concert of theirs and it was my first concert of a famous musician(s). I lost interest in 1D when I got to high school and yes, I was no longer attracted to Liam and never got into him again in my late teens, let alone college years and I'm now 23. It's ironic that so many "fans" (the overly obsessive ones who infantilize 1D and think it's ok to stalk them) claim that the members are all angels when not all of them are angels. Harry is actually genuinely kind and compassionate though. Obviously liking 1D doesn't make you a bad person just bc some of the members are actually not very nice people. You can separate the art from the artist. Realizing that Liam is actually a wolf in sheep's clothing, I wasn't surprised to be honest. The fact he's homophobic is enough for me to lose respect for him. Just because he was bullied as a kid doesn't give him a free pass to be disrespectful to others.
