Rivoli is one of the greatest victory of Napoleon’s career. It’s up there with Marengo and Austerlitz.

Yeah if you were making a greatest hit album these three would be the top picks. But they're also maybe the most heavily embellished and mythologised, which is always worth keeping in mind

sadly very much overshadowed by the popularity of his others victories.

And so ends the Italian Campaign. I've learned quite a bit making these last 4 episodes, mostly about how useful maps are, and how to make rudimentary graphics. It's required a lot more work than usual, but it's worth it to make things more understandable. In episodes or for topics that are political, social or economic, it'll be more of the simply still-image stuff, but anytime we look at battles and campaigns, expect maps and graphics. If you've got comments, criticisms, questions, whatever, let me know

Yeah, that's true...I used to listen the other episodes like podcasts but for the ones of the Italian campaign I didn't have any other choice than taking the time to watch them, impossible to follow all the events without a geographical reference. Anyway, excellent episode...our fellow Boney is already showing his political ambitions, "resign to enjoy a peaceful retirement", my balls!!! nobody in the Directoire bought that bullshit!!!
@historicallyadequate2500

Yep. Too many place names and cities to be easy to follow non-visually. Also helps me write a bit more concisely too. And yeah, his retirement routine was almost definitely bullshit. No way he quits while he's ahead. Also if you want all the Napoleon episodes are up as podcasts on Spotify. I can put them on other services/sites too if any wants

The austrians were like roaches. You defeat an army of them and somehow they manage to muster another $40,000. Defeat that army and 40,000 more pop up. It just goes on and on and on.

Clichy is not the gate on the south which is on the direction of Italy. Clichy is in the North West of the French capital. Just check on a map where Place de Clichy is. Clichy is a shorten version of the Club de Clichy, a royalist club in Paris, accused of conspiracy against the directory and the republic.
