Last episode's delivery of firewood "knuckles," cutoffs and end pieces, is quickly beginning to fill the knuckle bin. So, to keep them contained, I install board barriers. Raspberries are in full florid flush. The snakes are still lurking behind the leaning "Les Traveled" board. One gives me an unexpected caress, squirming over my boot and briefly caressing my ankle in its speedy escape.
LIFE ON THE BOG chronicles life lived closely within the natural world of northern Minnesota, its seasonal shifts, observing the wildlife passing through and the rhythms advancing: grouse drumming, peepers screeching, trumpeter swans trumpeting, tree frogs keening, grosbeaks fluting. This journey is at times absurd, reflective, humorous, slapstick, thoughtful, silly, contemplative, and laughable, but never profane.
