I like how they put wearable in the title but the traditional one is also wearable

As they mean wearable as in allowed to wear it obviously 😂

Traditionally they also used leather with lacquer which is also light and does offer good protection.

The title should say something like High quality lightweight samurai armour replica for cosplay. It looks cool but the title is a tiny bit misleading

Metal armor isn't that heavy once it is on , the weight gets distributed around the body .. I have a hitch in my step due to a screwed right knee and I can still comfortably wear traditional steel and lace armor without discomfort . Or even fatigue over time , no more so than not wearing any .. it very quickly becomes something you don't notice on simply because the weight is so well distributed . I don't see , even on a movie set , why it would be necessary for a paper armor , unless it was an exceptional save on cost .

*Some* Japanese amors can actually be quite heavy on your shoulders, e.g. the O-Yoroi armor was designed for mounted archers i.e. had more weight distributed to the shoulders.

How does this armor holdup under long marches or simulated combat? Is it priced less than the traditionally made armor?
@nobunagaoda6605

+Samurai Armor Basically you're paying money for paper armor that serves as a costume than an actual armor as the video explains. You can't mix and match paper and iron together for actual usage in simulated combat but it might withstand long marches in parades though. If I recall I believe the company is Samurai Store International and it is highly revered for selling armor and its variety of reproduction of famous armor sets like Tadakatsu Honda, Ieyasu Tokugawa, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, Nobunaga Oda, etc. So yeah moreover costumes replicas/art pieces of armor than actual armor that you guys make.

+Nobunaga Oda (Mark Robles) Hi Mark. The Japanese have actually used lacquered paper in their crafting of armor since 600 BC. The paper was layered, than lacquered and found to offer "adequate" protection on the battle field but just didn't hold up as long as steel armor (especially when it was wet). I was hoping that Marutake Sangyo was able to treat the paper to help make it more durable, as the armor craftsmen had so many years before.

Samurai Armor I see. But I guess the only reason they do that kind of craftsmanship is 1. Cost less 2. Saves up time actually making the armor 3. Light weight for people to wear more often than a traditional one made of iron and steel.

+Nobunaga Oda (Mark Robles) All very good points. Although I am not sure how much time and money is saved during the production of paper armor; it is very apparent the difference in weight. Also although it is thicker much more flexible than steel armor.
