Sniff* sniff* Thank you for the tears. I'm so there w/ your daughter at 8 years old....in grad school, broke, my treats were an occasional foreign film [NOT the deodorant I ran out of], a thrown clay cup w/ a "mistake" or a pillow case that had a flaw. They now bring back fond memories. Thank you for the deeper lesson in creativity...it is what we say it is, for us, isn't it?! Makes my week to know the Universe didn't allow you to go the grad schools you thought you 'should' go to!

Mistakes are not part of a journey towards perfection; mistakes make us human. Thanks for reiterating this so personally.

This is so beautiful! Life is full of connections. Potters are so lucky to be able to connect with so many people often unknowingly.

Chris, I hope you get to read this someday. I was personally moved at your courage to be vulnerable and be a real person in front of the camera. From now on, I'll tell the story about the one time I saw this guy online being himself and inspiring me to believe that being a guy means being vulnerable and courageous.

I have always felt creating a piece of art requires something more than sheer skill; it is also a matter of heart and emotions. This presentation reinforces that feeling. Thanks Chris for the talk.

Thanks for the idea that the very imperfections that trouble us might make our creations accessible, maybe even meaningful, to others.

talk about mistakes just hit the return button by mistake....what I meant to say was; next time you have to quantify / validate yourself just ask what mark you get for being an inspiration as a tutor as well as an artist , I'm truly inspired thank you :)

is interesting to analyze the mistakes in a different way, as elements of differentiation, a way of adding value to things, a way to improve as human beings.

Chris, what an eloquent talk. Really touched me as an artist and a fellow human being. How many times have we chosen the runt of the litter, the wimpiest Christmas Tree or the painting that reminded of us a childhood memory rather than the "best" of the lot? Our choices in life are based on our own personal experiences - that's what makes us all human - and beautiful in our differences. I shared your post on my FB page. Thanks!
