Aaron is a once-in-a-lifetime artist and Linda wanted to help him stake his claim. What is even more beautiful than his voice, is her generosity. She was internationally famous, and one of the most successful vocalists of all time, but she yielded to him so she could help him shine. The same thing with her band that became The Eagles!

I give up. Every time I see a different reaction to this duet people in the comments seem to think that she helped his career or, and listen to this one "he was nervous" and she was helping him with stage fright. People, speak for yourselves, if you don't know who Mr. Neville is. He absolutely did not need someone else to deem their light to let him shine. Its ok, we are not born knowing, we learn as we go, and sometimes we step on it. Yes, she helped many and was very generous with her talent, but this man had a cult following way before this duet. This was in 1989 and many of us know him from way back in the 60s. This is akin to not knowing who was Robert Johnson and thinking that England invented Rock and Roll. Insert eye roll here please.

Watching this again. Your reactions to Linda are wonderful. A little story about the "well-deserved" kiss. It was a different time. They had made an official video with the song. It's been decades since I saw it but I remember a sort of slow, mildly suggestive hide & seek among sheets on a clothesline moving in the breeze. I don't think they actually even touched but there was racist hatemail. A black man & a white woman!? Horrors! When they won the Grammy, the suits called Linda in before the performance & told her they didn't want any demonstrations of affection to go along with the love song. Linda said she left the office thinking, "Oh, yeah? Watch this!"

I am an oldie who lived thru these wonderful acts. I saw Linda perform back when she was barefoot. I have loved her from day 1. I have her albums which my granddaughter is begging to have my entire rock collection. They're hers. What kills me about Linda is, the horrendous disease she currently has. So many magnificent artists have no children. Yes, Linda adopted, but they're not her DNA. Her mom preached against marriage. She did a great disservice to us all. For that talent to not be passed down is a sin. Early on she was with JD Souther. That could have been a great pairing. Knowing who & what she was & where she she is now, kills me. Thanks for educating the young.
