I'm getting this AmpliFi FX100 to fill in the live gig necessities while I save up for a Helix LT. I am getting it dirt cheap, and think it is a extreme bang for the buck. Nobody wanted it because they want to do everything on the unit, whereas I want to have it ready before the gig, and just stomp stomp stomp. The sounds are super decent for live stuff, where it matters if you get a iffy amp or need to plug in direct, or both! totally worth it!

Whether you dig these kind of things or not it's always cool to play with new toys. I do hope L6 doesn't lose sight of the dt amp / hd / variax integration development. That is actually some of the best tones I've ever heard and would be a shame to be forgotten.

Bought one for 40 bucks.. the app has worked great with my iPad I have had no issues presets not half bad little tweaking and it’s good to go running straight to a PA for 40 bucks no way I can complain about it.. is it a helix.. no it is good if you remember where you put your tones.. in what slot 1a 2a etc.. the tones are pretty dang good surprisingly

Line 6 is fuckin awesome. I just ordered one of these, can't wait. I was researching the crap out of blackstar amps, effects etc. on budget, and since I don't know a lot about effects, this will be perfect with the tone cloud and presets. I had a Line 6 Pocket Pod previously and the tone on that was the best I've heard. But needed pedals, so then bought a Zoom G1Xon and returned it the very same day, looked into Digitech, Vox Stomplab etc and nothing sounded like the Pocket Pod. Thought I'd spend a few more bucks and get this.

@zzzang1231
10 жыл бұрын
First of all.........you need the following.......Iphone 4 or up with the latest OS, Itouch 5th generation or IPad2 and up. If you do not have those items, or do not wish to purchase them, then this unit is not for you.I have a Iphone 4 so this pedalboard is perfect for me. I've owned every Digitech pedalboard ever made and still have a GNX3000. I currently use the Line6 HD 500x and I also have the Zoom G5.The best thing about the Amplifi FX100 is how fast you can dial up a usable tone.The presets are not bad and for the most part can get you in the ballpark quickly for whatever style of music you are looking for..They are grouped in banks containing 4 presets per bank in a given genre or style of music. From there you can tweak to your own guitar and amp situation in no time and have some very usable tones very very quickly.There is a large database of online tones but do not expect too much from these. I think this aspect was somewhat over hyped but in the future will prove to be more useful as more people contribute great patches. You will stumble upon a nice sound but you are going to have to do some digging. The promo videos suggest otherwise and seems to indicate you will magically be supplied with perfect tone matching to the song you are playing. This is not the case! It seems as though they have compiled a database of X3 tones users have made over the years and the medadata info points you to the sounds you might think will fit. You naturally go for the sounds with the highest ratings but don't count out the ones that have no ratings at all. The patches seems to be very quiet and I haven't had to fuss with noise gates too much. The unit seems to be made well but I'm not sure about the pedal being heavy duty enough. Time will tell............I have only had this for a week and already I have compiled some very musical patches and done so with barely reading the manual at all..........If you want a unit that is user friendly then this could possibly be just for you.........I really love my HD 500X but there is a steep learning curve there and it took me quite awhile to get the 4 working patches I needed. The Amplifi FX100 however is so quick I had 4 great working sounds in less than a day and currently have about 40 presets I'm happy with ! I love the fact that I can dial in on exactly the sound I need via Iphone and bluetooth...........Easily............! Once you dial in the sounds you like just dump them into the pedalboard and there is no need to have your phone or Ipad with you.

I feel you are pretty accurate with your description. My last pedal was the 500x as well. I loved it. But as you stated, it requires some patience and time committed to bringing those wonderful tones out of it. I usually used my PC to edit and tweak tones and was always finding myself wishing I could be doing this on my iPad. So this time around I'm hoping I'm not compromising too much on TONE but will have the ability to tweak from IOS. I want to do a lot of ambient/post rock/space rock stuff this time around and I think it will work out with the FX100. Judging from your uploads I think you can relate *;)*

Ok, I must have misread. But surely £70 is too little a price difference to account for the removal of a 75w amp and speaker. I mean the biggest combo amp you could get for that has only a 12w power rating. I would have thought the £150-£175 rang would be about right for this kind of item.

I did a bit of searching on how to run Android apps on a Windows based laptop(Win10) and found Bluestacks. It's an app emulator w/a nice intuitive interface (although aimed at a much younger demographic than me). Only thing it asks you to install some apps for feedback after a couple of days. I started to comply and stopped at the actual downloading of any more apps and it seems to have ditched the pop-up nag screen that prevents you from opening AMPLIFi. I have navigated extensively throughout the AMPLIFi app but have yet to connect it to my fx100 because it's being shipped to me at present. It downloaded and played all the Line6 jam tracks and a few jams from my own music library. www.bluestacks.com/

Feeling like these devices/however versitile and packed with good sounds/ defeat the whole purpuse of sitting down with a guitar and practicing actual playing. All this tweeking and messing up with tones...you end up spending a lot more time on searching effects and combinations than actual playing... and you can never really use something like that to its full potential...I mean so many different sounds...normally I would end up using 4-5 sounds max...It is a great piece of gear, specially if it is able to sound alive. But in the end what you want is to play more guitar and not spend more time on the phone/pc/tablet..

It’s a really quick and easy way to dial I a guitar tone with pretty exact effects as you need for any type/style of song, the tone you need is there in seconds, you can then edit that tone as much or little as you want to then personalise your own individual tones needed in your setup, you’ve got a decent tone in seconds so you can then play as much as you like if the playing is the most important thing to you, I think you’ll find most guitar players love buying FX pedals etc and being creative and producing your own effected sounds to play in your band for songwriting, recording, playing live, being creative and developing sounds is a creative art and is what colours and gives texture to make the songs you play and produce dimension and makes a song sound interesting to the listener.

This shit pisses me off so much...not that I expect anyone to care, but really who is gonna use all that shit? Why is it so hard to find a good thrash riff sound, a bright but deep lead sound and a decent clean? That's all I'd ever need, yet I gotta get a pedal with a bunch of effects that I'll never use, just so I can hopefully tweak 3 fx, which probably still sound like shit, hence the reason most new music...sucks! Nobody wants to reveal their secrets to their sound. I've been fighting this battle for nearly 20 years, and I see no end in sight. The whole guitar industry needs a complete overhaul. I wish I had the resources to bring my ideas to light. The theory of Occam's Razor definitely applies here.

Save your money for an AXE FX II or a Kemper Profiling amp...this sounds cheap, thin and ... modelled.
@Iron883Man
10 жыл бұрын
The Axe FX is modelled, but you will hardly hear the difference between the real thing and the Axe FX. And, no, software isn't software...just like windows isn't mac or Linux, Audacity isn't Cubase, etc. and Axe FX / Kemper take their software beyond anything Line 6 has ever done before.
@Iron883Man
10 жыл бұрын
So you're saying that software hasn't evolved since the stone age of computers, only the CPU's got faster? ROFL. Common, software evolved with CPU capacity. Line6 software runs on a smaller CPU on which you'd never be able to run Axe FX software. Kemper / Axe FX use bigger and faster CPU, thus allowing them to put more data in at a higher speed, resulting in a 'High Definition' Sound if you will. And another reason software isn't software: ever herd of an engine? DOS, Windows, iOS and Linux are all very different environments to be programming in. All of them have their benefits and this is why Windows is easier to write computer games for and Mac is easier to write editing software for. If you think software is just software because it is binary language...you might as well say every woman is a woman and there is no difference. I beg to differ.
@Iron883Man
10 жыл бұрын
"software is software" that sounds to me like 'Pong' is the same thing as "(fill in whatever game is popular these days)". Given enough data you can convert anything into binary code, including human beings. DNA is the software, cells are the hardware. Output is a combination of hardware and software and both are far more advanced on the more expensive 'toys'. Hence the output is more detailed. Both the Axe FX and the Kemper will be processing those 1's and 0's at a far superior rate than the line 6. I don't think you fully understand binary code if you're saying it doesn't come close to a human cell. In fact if you take PI (3,141592...), which can be transferred into binary code, you will have described every human being that ever was, is or ever will be. In fact PI is the all containing number that describes everything in our universe...and in theory it can be converted in binary code. Let's just stick with the original idea: more money will buy you better gear, which is not only true for Line 6 vs Axe FX.

***** Actually you are completely wrong. Software is written using a programing language. some languages are further removed from the code than others and offer different functions to each other. they compile the binary code and are very different. then there is the band with. E.G. 16 bit 24 bit 32 bit 64 bit 128 bit and so on. So code is not all the same

Ok you could be right about the REAL 3D but I don't care. If you want to get real pedantic then binary code dose not exist. It is simply a representation of a switch in ether the on position or off position. You are wrong and software has improved by huge amounts and so has hardware. Its not something I care about. The code makes the chipsets switch. the chipsets have evolved into completely different, more complex and powerful things and software has changed to take advantage of this. If you do not accept this then ok. be 100% right and I wish you well
