Thanks Ryan! So much better of a video than L6 put out themselves! - I went and edited all of my presets, removed the cab/speaker/IR set it to powercab out and set it to the speaker I wanted.... I'm after the "amp in the room" feel myself for home use.

I love my Pod Go but not sure if i want to get this powercab. I feel like its a bit over priced because its one of a kind. (Except the really expensive Friedman one)- All your tones sounded good. Turning off the Cab sim is KEY

Thanks! In-depth videos on using Helix with PC+ are sorely needed. There are so many questions. For example, consider where in the Helix signal chain people put their speaker blocks. Let's assume we're using separate speaker or IR blocks (if your patch has amp/speaker combo, you'll need to change that to take full advantage of PC+). Well, the speaker or IR block may NOT be the last thing in your signal path. Lots of patches put other effects blocks after. That begs the question of how to feed both FOH (say from the XLR outs) and the L6 link at the same time. Is the only real option to move the speaker block to the end of the chain so you can split the outputs before the speaker block? I feel like this is an area that the Helix features fell slightly short. I'd like to have more options. For example, on a speaker block there needs to be an option to NOT enable that block for the L6-link output, but enable it for other outputs. At minimum Line 6 needs to provide a LOT more guidance on how to take advantage of the Helix/PC+ combo, and maybe include some sample patches.

You are right. Line6 has failed majorly at this whole Helix/PC+ setup for those of us that invested in it. It takes ALOT of learning and tweaking before you can get it to where you want. Huge miss for them to promote it as an all-in-one amp modeling solution. It would have sold more setups IMO. Kemper is doing a good job at this currently so far.

Great video. I believe the difference between an L6/AES-EBU cable and a mic cable is the L6/AES-EBU cable has a 110 ohm resistance, whereas (theoretically) mic cables are 0 ohms. I'm not an electronics expert, so I don't know why it matters - maybe, it regulates data delivery speed or noise, perhaps the associated electronics need the loading (like amps need speaker loadings)? For the sake of a few quid more for a cable, I'm not risking frying a grand and half of Helix and Powercab.

Great video! Another advantage of the PC PC212+ is that you can mix and match speakers, e.g. a Creamback (left) with a V30 (right). It's MUCH louder than the PC112+ and has better sonic spread (2 speakers). Stereo effects are quite noticeable, although you're right that they're even more pronounced using 2 PC112s. On the other hand, using 2 PC112s on stage to boost stereo effects leads to siloed experiences: the guy on the left side of the stage can't really hear what's coming out of the right PC112+ and the guy on the right side of the stage etc. Finally, I've had no issues using an XLR cable instead of an AES cable, except for the fact that, like a regular jack, the XLR can't tap into Helix functionality. Of course, you can just use midi to control the PC from the Helix per preset, but it's not as convenient to program.

Thanks so much! Your experiences are very insightful. Blending two different speakers didn't occur to me. And I didn't know about the XLR cable not being able to carry Helix commands (if I understood you correctly). I'd be interested in trying a PC+ 212 now.

I've been using a bog standard 30' XLR since I got the cab. Works great with no dropouts our digital noise. Until it fails miserably I'm good to go.

The explanation of IR's really helped, thank you.The explanation of the XLR is the type of connector and not the cable helped also. Thank you. May want to change the upload title from Powercab to Powercab Plus. I have the Line6 DT 50 amp. Is the Powercab better than the DT50. You have a stereo rig, is that better than mono. wouldn't the musicians on the opposite side of the stage just hear that channel of the stereo, or do you all use in ear monitors?

I'm glad you found it helpful. In my main band we're all on IEMs and in stereo so I've created a stereo rig on the Helix. In the other bands I play in, the IEMs are in mono or we don't use IEMs, in which case I just use a mono set up. I was trying a new mono set up at a gig tonight using the HX Stomp. Sounded pretty good. A stereo mix would have sounded better but it's a bit of a luxury - an expensive luxury too!

The Line 6 L6 cable is actually cheaper than the one on ebay if you get the short cable. PMT online has the L6 straight from Yamaha.

The thing with the digital cable between the Helix and Powercab is that it needs to be 110 ohms to avoid glitches.

Only thing I would say is the 212 sounds truly amazing in stereo..set the stereo width to 200 on the 212 and it’s the widest stereo 2x12 you will ever hear. 2 separate 1x12’s is more weight, more cubic volume..more hassle and imo not worth it.

I got my 212 power cab plus and have a question : should helix presets be set to digital for the out put and guitar for the input for the L6 212 plus power cab when using the L-6 Link cable?

What happens when you disable all IR's/cab sim on your moddeler and use the speaker sim om the powercab, and then use the XLR output of the PC to FOH? Will it use the speaker simulation on the signal to gets send to FOH?

Hello Ryan, and thanks for every video to Line 6 Helix and Powercab. I love this products. I’m thinking to buy the Mogami 3080 AES/EBU, but I‘m not sure, which lenght is right for me. Maybe you have a advise for me. Is the Sound identical to the microphone cable or maybe a Little better? I think its the same or? Greetings from Germany, Daniel

Hi Daniel. With regards to the length of the cable, it depends on your gigs. I got the 8m cable because I knew I needed it for a gig last summer where the stage was going to be quite large (at least larger than usual). So you will have to decide what is an appropriate lenght for your use. Keep in mind, that you will need to take into account the extra length of the cable going round to the back of the Helix and round the back of the Powercab. I actually checked how much I would need by estimating 1m steps and observing the distance. To be safe, get the longest you can afford. That being said it can also be a mild annoyance to wrap a long cable after use if you don't need the extra length (first world problems, I know :) ). With regards to using an microphone cable, I haven't tried this myself. Some people have reported that it works perfectly. Perhaps you can test it yourself first if you have a microphone cable. I chose to use the AES cable for peace of mind and to be more sure the switching would work. If you can afford it, then maybe it is safer to jsut go with the AES cable. I hope that helps even a little bit. Good luck!

Hello Ryan, thanks for the quick reply and the good tip with the extra length for laying behind the Helix and the Powercap. Since I actually would not have thought of it. I have now bought the 10meter version. Thank you and stay healthy in these times. Greetings Daniel
