Nice engine and Land Rover... Me and my father are working at one stationary engine project. I hope to get it run and painted at next summer. My dad dream is to buy old Land Rover some Day. I just visited my friends garage yesterday, they are making tractor from a different kind of parts... Some are from old truck, some are from old tractor and one part is diesel engine which has roots type charger which makes this project special. His step-dad has couple old Thames traders in mint condinition.

Sounds good, lets see some pics of the engine! The Thames Trader sounds good too, I like those. Cheers,

Thank you, that Lister is the pride and joy of my engine collection, and this winter has been hard work so far - stopping the bare metal components from rusting! Phill.

Unbrako is the name in Allen keys, long series with ball ends, always very useful, and very long lasting. Trust me as an ex-toolmaker. :-) BTW - Merry Christmas, see you in 2014 Phil

so many ebgines are awkward to get the oil out even changing the oil on the car is a job. I dec ided to buy a oil suction pump for changing oil it has a tube that goes down the dip stick tube so I can change oil easily on most engines now. but once in a while you have to do it the correct way to check all is well no sludge or metal filings. will you do a video on the tank seal when you get round to it I heard of it but never used it. its a continous job keeping up with rust and maintenance on the landrover you seem to be on top of it all. I have some Tbar allen keys a metric and an imperial set they are good but I have a box of mixed ones for the tight spaces where tbar wont get in merry christmas

Indeed, infact I think I once used an old oil can to pump the Lister sump out. I will video sealing the tank, it's pretty easy to do just a tricky not getting the sealer on the paint...

Nice video Phill. I wish you a happy new year. You started it before to let it warm so the oil will drain easy??

Hi Ollie, I use oils made by a company called "Comma". "Comma Classic SAE30" SAE30 is the correct grade and will be fine for your D type all year round, it's sometimes marketed at "Lawn Mower Oil". Don't go using detergent oils or anything fancy, SAE30 is spot on. Glad you like the tank, I modified a one gallon petrol tin to make that. Phill.

Start with a good clean of your fuel system, see if that cures the problem.
