serious heater flash on startup, I would switch that tube out or find a workaround before you burn out an expensive tube

@xafbcn Nice. I just ordered those power tubes off ebay for this amp. I'm wanting some Mullards as well. Have you tried out any EF92 or EF95? I'm no audiophile so I don't know if I'd be able to tell the "night and day" difference from the stocks I've read about.

Why are there 4 tubes in this amp? Do you need to replace all of them for different sound?

What tubes are you using?

No, not at all You can replace all tubes from less than 30$, and of course you don't need it to replace them every day. You can spend more money if you prefer using more expensive tubes of your taste.

You'll find the 6N6P definitely more bassy than the stock ones, for me it was the most noticeable change. About the drivers...that's a matter of taste. I've tried almost everything...CV4010/4015, EF95, EF92...Miniwatt EF95 sound quite nice but the most I liked are the EF91. But as I said, I depends on your taste.

What power tubes are you using? I can tell they're Russian but that's about it.

I'm torn at the moment because I really want a DAC and I know the fiio e17 will do it for me but this thing is just so slick makes me want one!

There 2 tubes as a pre-amplifiers and the other 2 ones are the "power tubes". Do you need it to replace in pairs. You can change the two big ones or the two little ones...or, of course, the four :)
