I seen him in person at the Opry in between songs he would come to the edge of stage to sign anything you handed him. He was a Fine Man! And never forgot where he he came from.

Only country music deals so openly and frequently with themes of intense pathos such as the one demonstrated in this "Southern lament." I cannot find at this moment who else recorded this, but the vocalists I would most wish had recorded it are Bobby Lewis, Carl Smith, Del Reeves, Vernon Oxford, Claude Gray, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

He will be 94 in December of 2014. He is still an active Grand Ole Opry member and performs quite often. He is the oldest Opry member as well.

Izzat Emmons? Tasty steel, whoever. This is straight out of one of his jokes: the flip side of a flop record, but one of Bill Anderson's best songs. Thank you for posting it
