Index of Questions:
00:00 - INTRODUCTION
03:47 - SOCIAL INTERACTIONS: The further down the path I go, the less fluidly I navigate social interactions. Is this normal? Any advice?
08:13 - THE PERCEPTUAL PROCESS & OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES: As Theravada Buddhists, we are taught that for the seeing process to take place, there must be eye-consciousness, the eye-organ, the object and an uninterrupted contact between the three present at the same time. But there are people talking about "out of body experiences." Where they "see" their body from outside. How does this "seeing" process happen, while there's at least one broken or missing link, usually the eye-organ? Is this sense of "sight" a mere illusion of perception, a dream, or perhaps we don't need the eye-organ to see?
14:59 - DEVOTION: I have basically zero external devotion, even though I think about the Dhamma every day, all day. It is because devotion is a part of the mind-control apparatus of this one large religion. I don't really even know if I'm able. Should I somehow still give it a try?
18:20 - ANXIETY: I have terrible social anxiety. I want to know how helpful anapanassati meditation can be in treating social anxiety.
23:37 - PARENTS: What about parents, as they are responsible for our birth, and therefore our suffering. So how can one respect that?
27:19 - FAMILY & RIGHT VIEW: Could you please discuss how the concepts of mother and father fit into Right View? How does one balance family duties with the desire to follow the Eightfold Path?
32:35 - PARENTS & RIGHT ASSOCIATION: How can we deal with or find balance with the contradiction of respecting our parents and "not associating with fools", if we feel they fit that description? Is it OK to cut the ties if we feel the relationship is too overwhelming?
37:30 - RIGHT EFFORT - I have found your emphasis on Right Effort extremely helpful and inspiring, including your recent book "What Comes Before Mindfulness?". I have also recently been inspired by Anguttara Nikaya 10.2 where the Buddha talks about good qualities flowing naturally from each other with no volition needing to be exerted. Can you explain how both of these can work together?
41:33 - PSYCHIC POWERS: When meditating are psychic powers gained spontaneously or must there be an intent in developing them? Just like any other ability?
48:25 - MERIT: Here is a quote I have read: "he who has transcended both merit and demerit ... is called a bhikkhu". But don't we all strive to attain merit? Could you explain why we should transcend it?
52:56 - HARMLESSNESS: Sometimes I cause pain and suffering to those around me, unintentionally. This causes me great suffering. How do I remove my ignorance in this matter, and become skillful enough to at least cause no harm, (if not do good) with my actions or inactions?
