Crime is and should be blamed on mental instability where appropriate. As you pointed out, it's whether the person was aware of their actions or not that's the main issue. Mental illness can absolutely be a contributing factor, there's no reason it shouldn't, but the focus should be on whether they were aware of right and wrong at the time of the crime.

Everyone is questioning the mother and it needs to stop. Trauma reactions are different for everyone. I have experienced trauma on more than one occasion and I am the only person in my family that can remain calm, almost nonchalant about the situation. Whereas my mom runs through the house screaming and crying. Some of these situations required action to help a dying family member and my mom was of no help, not even to 911 dispatchers. My calmness doesn't make me heartless, it helps me get through the immediate situation and I grieve in private.
@Unhyphenated
7 ай бұрын
My point is the whole bashing the mom further proves how judgmental people have gotten with little to no grounds. The court of public opinion convicts with only one side heard and with only tainted evidence from highly bias sources; in this case the mom is crucified due to a minute in one friggin phone call. Due to people being exposed by way of social media and content such as this has left me with a justified growing concern with our jury system. As jury aged individuals grow ever more sanctimonious and closed minded all while being totally lost on whys and hows of the concept of questioning those on the stand works; every American better pray that they never find themselves wrongfully before a jury.

I'm the same. After a lot of childhood trauma I tend to have delayed reactions tho crisis situations. It makes me good at handling disaster when it strikes, but people think I'm cold. It can be days, even weeks later when it hits me and I'm a mess.
@Rebornation0712

There is no normal way to act or to respond! Much like any machine when they short circuit it can be very unpredictable. Finding your child dead would be hard, finding your child dismembered would be horrific, s ring your child’s head in a bucket before you even know he is dead would be such an overload to the system a short circuit would be completely expected! It would be so overwhelming that there is no normal way to respond! People say they would be crying and screaming and maybe they would but there is nothing wrong with a system shut down too! There are things that the brain does to protect the person in cases of severe trauma. I can’t imagine the level of trauma this mother would have! If she knew her son was dead, she saw the body first it may not have been as a big a trauma but still traumatic! But seeing the head in a bucket with no precursors would literally short circuit the system!

I can't imagine how Shad's mom managed to stay so calm after finding his head. I would have been hysterical, and inconsolable. Maybe she was in shock, and that's why she was able to so clearly speak to the police in that 911 call? I would have been terrified that the killer was still in the house too, even though his mom had said she heard the door close (like the sound of someone leaving, I think she said). My heart breaks for Shad's mom for having to see the horror that was inflicted on him, and that her boyfriend saw it too. Just unimaginable. My condolences to their entire family. RIP, Shad... or haunt Taylor's nightmares for the rest of her life... whichever works for ya.

@Vmurph I would be hysterical no matter WHO'S head was in the bucket, but I guess not everyone reacts the same. Her boyfriend testified that she was crying before they called the police. Again, maybe she was in shock? I don't want to be hard on her, she lost her son on an horrific way, and was the one to find him. I can't imagine what that must do to a mom. I just know that even when the police arrived, they wouldn't have been able to talk to me because I would be screaming in emotional agony, and probably vomiting too. But, that's just me. They would have ended up calling an ambulance for me, because I probably would have had a nervous breakdown or something. How do you recover from finding your adult child in that condition? I have no idea. Lots of medication and therapy, I guess.

@@Dark_WolFeather Yes, it's scary that they were old friends who first met as kids at school. There would have been a lot of trust there because of that - and no guy expects a woman to get the better of them in a physical conflict, least of all kill them! She's a sly one. She was obsessed with gay serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, whose speciality was dismembering & decapitating his victims, and post mortem sex. Two weeks before she murdered and butchered Shad, she looked up a load of Dahmer stuff online. I reckon she was curious and wanted to try the same stuff. She planned to do it to Shad, and ambushed that poor kid IMO. I bet it was HER idea to put the chain round his neck, not his, as she told police. He didn't have a hope of escaping. She had him laying on the bed on his front, and she sat on his back with her full weight, as she throttled him from behind with the chain. Only a guy who was a lot bigger and heavier than her, could possibly have thrown her off - in photos Shad looked like quite a small guy. No doubt she had his arms pinned down under her legs, so he couldn't loosen the chain or defend himself. What an horrific death! Killing him in his Mom's house, with his Mom's kitchen knives, is adding insult to injury! What an evil witch.
@glamdolly30
Жыл бұрын
@niles-ek2we I'm fully aware of the victim's long history with his killer, it was well documented during the recent murder trial. Their relationship and history is exactly my point - he had no reason to think she would murder him! Shad Thyrion had known Taylor Schabusiness for years. They met at school, and were friends as well as lovers. They regularly enjoyed drugs, and S&M sex together. Both activities involve a significant level of mutual trust. S&M sex practices in particular, obviously require far more trust between two adults than more conventional sex, due to the potential physical risks involved (violence, asphyxiation etc). People can be very vulnerable while participating in these acts - just as Shad was, laying naked on his front on his bed with a chain around his neck, and Taylor Schabusiness on his back, pulling on that chain beyond anything that could be pleasurable for him. In police interviews she admitted she noticed when he started bleeding from his mouth, but rather than stop, she pulled harder. She had no intention of stopping, it was clear she was determined to kill him. The poor guy obviously trusted her a great deal, to agree to be that vulnerable with her. Having been on the receiving end of similar sadistic sex acts with her in the past, he had no reason to think she would strangle him to death while he was incapacitated and couldn't defend himself. While he consented to sex acts like her throttling him, he did not consent to being murdered - or obviously, to being dismembered after death. Shad would never have imagined the depraved indignities Schabusiness would inflict on his lifeless body, first decapitating him and placing his severed head in a bucket, then dismembering him (including cutting off his genitals), and stabbing his torso to disembowel and remove other organs. It's so sad! Officer Wanish (sp?) worked my case when my ex was stalking me, and he testified in court at the trial. He was exceptionally nice and professional. If I am not mistaken, he may have been the officer who assisted when my ex broke my ankle. I was in distress then, and my ex had so many cases against him, because he broke the restraining order so many times that they all blend together. I was also swatted by my ex. However, Officer Wanish stood out to me because he went above and beyond to be kind. He will definitely be affected by this, because he is an empathetic man. He is an exceptional officer. I hope he and the other officers, as well as the family, are able to find peace and heal from this horrific tragedy.

What this woman did to this man was one of the most grotesque brutal murders I've ever heard about. God bless his mother, who kept it together more than I could have if it were my son, and I had to hear the gruesome details with the murderer sitting right in front of me. This woman was pure evil. She absolutely feels emotions, and knows exactly what she did. She was able to smile at her dad when he testified, told him she loved him, and throughout his testimony I watched her facial expressions when her dad was asked about her mother. Through her facial expressions she demonstrated pain, she often nodded in agreement, etc. She is well in touch with reality. Crystal meth makes people do some outrageous things, unthinkable, in fact. So when an already bonafide evil woman is high on meth, ect., I'm sure she was pretty messed up but not in a state of psychosis. The fact that defense tried to convince the jury of that was predictable, but like the rest of us, they saw right through it. Bottom line, she's pure evil and was high as kite. Now she must pay the price. I have not one ounce of sympathy for her, but I do feel for her father. To know you brought a child who you still love very much into this world, who did what she did, must be devastating. I can't even imagine the extreme pain both of their parents have had to deal with and probably still do. Very disturbed evil woman. God bless his sole.

@@nicolekear3911I kind of agree. I know that Taylor confessed (even though her confession/interrogation had me raising an eyebrow at some of the questions), but Steve has me a bit skeptical here. (I'm late to the trial, so I'm starting at the beginning and trying to catch up.) And, presumably because of her confession, the prosecutor isn't asking Steve more probative questions that could be helpful. Steve says he spent the day (before or after, I forget) fighting with Tara. The prosecutor should've asked what they were fighting about, but he skipped right over that. I wouldn't be surprised if Steve was upset that his girlfriend's adult son was using their (his?) house as a laundromat, crash pad, drug den, etc., and waking him up at all hours of the night to do so. It also seemed weird to me that he waited around "trying to figure out what to do" and then called the regular, nonemergency police line. I mean, clearly Shad was already dead, but I'm pretty sure it's still an emergency, considering the murderer could still be in the home or is at least at large. But he didn't want all the noise and sirens... Idk, we'll see how this plays out.

What an appalling crime. Taylor Schabusiness shows absolutely NO remorse and even has the audacity to smirk and laugh before the court, to attack her own counsel (resulting in her being placed with a spit hood for the sentencing hearing) , which indicates not only that she is NOT sorry, but considers her own cruel, cold-blooded and gruesome actions as a joke, going so far as to leave the victim's head for his mother to find and remarking ,"I can't believe I forgot the head!" while being interrogated by police. This repulsive excuse for a human being deserves the fullest extent of the law's punishment, and she may well be the nastiest, most psychopathic killer to come out of Wisconsin since Jeffrey Dahmer.

I don’t think it’s weird that the mother wasn’t screaming and crying on the 911 call!
