🇳🇴🛫🇯🇵 *My Japanese Adventure Begins: From Norway to Tokyo! 🌸🗾*
Hey everyone!
I’m super excited to share the first video of my 12-part series, where I document my incredible year in Japan on a working holiday visa. On December 26th, I left my home in Norway, full of anticipation and a little sadness, to start a new chapter in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In this video, you’ll travel with me from Norway to Japan. I’ll give you a glimpse of my smooth journey, my bittersweet farewell to family and friends, and my first impressions upon landing in Tokyo. I was so excited to reunite with my best friend Chisa after 2.5 years, and her mom’s warm welcome made me feel right at home.
During my first two weeks, I stayed with Chisa’s mom while I explored different share house options in Tokyo. I wanted to find the perfect place to call home and not rush into any decisions. I also started working as a private English tutor, which was a fantastic way to get to know the city and its people.
Celebrating the New Year in Japan was a magical experience! We visited Hie Shrine for Hatsumode, prayed for good fortune, and I even got a cute rabbit zodiac figure to commemorate 2023. The day was filled with lovely moments, including a relaxing walk and some delicious Starbucks treats.
On January 11th, I moved into a share house in Fussa, just on the outskirts of Tokyo. My new room is spacious with a little balcony, and I immediately made friends with Katarina from Germany. She was a lifesaver, helping me settle in and introducing me to other residents. Our house is like a mini community with amazing facilities like a big kitchen, cute gym, and a spacious bath!
One of my favorite adventures so far was a trip to Hakone with my new friends Katarina, Maria, and Iain. We explored the Open-Air Museum, hiked Mt. Hakone, and enjoyed a serene boat ride. These moments are truly unforgettable.
Inspired by my friend Nolwenn, I decided to look for a part-time job. After years of teaching in Norway, I wanted to try something new. Though I faced several rejections, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise - more on that in future videos! Through it all, my friends’ support kept my spirits high, and I’ve been having a blast both at the share house and exploring Tokyo.
To wrap up January, Katarina and I had so much fun filming a strawberry candy taste test - it’s my favorite video so far!
I can’t wait to share more of my Japanese journey with you all. Make sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell so you don’t miss any of the exciting adventures ahead!
Arigatou gozaimasu for watching! 😊
