Welcome back to Episode 3 of my 12-part series, where I'm recapping my life in Japan! 🌸 This month was an exhilarating whirlwind of cultural exploration and personal growth, and I'm thrilled to share these unforgettable moments with you.
I began the month immersed in the lively Daruma Matsuri at Jindaiji Temple with my dear friends Katarina and Maria. 🎉 The festival, known for its Daruma dolls symbolizing perseverance and luck, coincided beautifully with Sakura season. 🌸 Did you know Sakura season spans from late March to early May in Japan, celebrated with joyous picnics under blooming cherry blossoms?
Next, I delved into the vibrant world of manga at the Chainsaw Man pop-up cafe in Shibuya. 📚 The cafe buzzed with themed decor and exclusive menu items inspired by this popular series. Last month, I enjoyed the Jujutsu Kaisen cafe, and this experience was just as thrilling!
A unique highlight was bringing my traditional Norwegian folk dress, or "bunad," to Tokyo for a special photoshoot. 📸 Seamon skillfully captured the essence of both Norwegian and Japanese cultures, while Benjamin provided behind-the-scenes glimpses of our adventures.
I then embarked on a day-long journey into samurai culture with Katarina. ⚔️ From visiting local shrines to donning traditional kimonos, practicing swordsmanship with real katanas, and participating in a serene matcha ceremony, it was an immersive exploration into ancient Japan's philosophy and arts.
While continuing my Japanese language studies, I realized the current school setup didn't suit me ideally. 🎓 Although flexible with year-round enrollment, it lacked thorough recaps and personalized pacing. If you're considering language studies, I'd recommend a more structured approach.
In a pivotal decision, I've chosen to start volunteering across Japan through platforms like Worldpackers and Workaway. 🌍 This allows me to live rent-free, move between cities effortlessly, and experience diverse work and communities. It's a step towards deeper exploration and cultural immersion, especially after my unexpected journey of job-seeking.
As I bid farewell to friends at a touching goodbye party, I set off for Okinawa, eager for my first volunteering experience. 🌴 Join me in the next episode as I embark on this new chapter!
Thank you for being part of my journey. 🙏 Remember to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on my adventures in Japan. See you in the next video! 🎥
