I've been riding for over 40 years, put on over 120 000 km's on V-Strom's alone and twice that on Beemers and other bikes. I sure wish I could ride like this! Thanks for the video, I'm off to practice . . . .

The Vstrom is more agile and flick-able than people think. I've owned 3 DL1000's and had them with full tour pack handle easily at speed and at parking lot maneuver speeds. The real skill comes in doing very slow tight circles and figure 8's. With that torquey twin instead of a 4 cylinder it does involve some clutch and rear brake finesse. Damn good bike.... very versatile.

Ever hear that story about the guy who took his V-Strom to the dealership to get a valve check? Had 30k miles on it and the mechanic was offended and said "You are wasting your money and my time on this valve check." these things will surpass 200k easy. Please take care of that thing it's a bike and a half.

Carlos E. Baldocchi I'm experimentig with suspension settings a lot, so I can't tell you for sure how it was set in this video. I thing it was soft, because bike is diping a lot and if you pay attention I grinded with center stand in last second of video. Normaly I feel more confident on bike if suspension is set to hard.

Distance beetwen the cones is set random from 5 to 8 meters. And you can see speed at the speed-radar table at the end. It shows 27 km/h it is about 17 mph. I'm riding in 1. st gear no clutch.
@tomasg5265

Thanks for your answers. I have any questions: no clutch means with gas?? My Vstrom is very restless on 1st gear. U-turns is good so? The clutch lever fast switch on + gas and thereafter turn left or right. How many distance I must directly go and tahereafter turn. Thanks for auor advices.
@ZlatkoDjukicStrom
8 жыл бұрын
Instead of using the clutch attempt to use the rear brake. While turning ran gas and rear brake at the same time. Gas will prevent jumping and stalling the engine. Brake will reduce speed and radius of the curve. Do not bother with distances. Use the minimum distance at which you comfortable riding the bike and with time you attempt to reduce this distance.

Sorry but LOADED would have been with a 150 lbs pillion passenger (better half) with another duffel bag straaped to the top case (of course paniers would have been full of a week's worth of clothes) and ridden on the brokenn roads of the Andes mountains of Ecuador just like we did at the beginning of March. We had do to a lot of skilled riding techniques to avoid the hazards thrown at us but G we had fun. This bike can take a lot !

Why do you stick your leg out on some U-turns but not others?
@ZlatkoDjukicStrom
8 жыл бұрын
Depends on how relaxed I feel during u-turns. At first, I do not have real feel, so just in case I stick the leg. Later, however, I have already warmed up and turning without straight leg.
@divebobber
8 жыл бұрын
what would putting the leg out accomplish? Is it for if you lose balance?
@DigitalJeremy
7 жыл бұрын
He may have a dirtbike background. When riding dirtbike the rider often sticks a foot way out in front just in case he turns a bit too sharp and the dirt is a bit too loose. The bike could lose traction and tip over...with a foot out front like that it'll help just in case of a tip over. It's important to stick that foot WAY out in front...too far back or low is asking for injury. When on ashpalt, it can be tricky to train your brain that this isn't necessary - with enough speed the gyro effect from the wheels will keep you upright. As he says, he didn't need to do this after warming up a bit.
@divebobber
7 жыл бұрын
I was told that the dirt bike racers do that to weight the front wheel for better traction.
