Great video. It's hard reading through the comments left by haters. Off roading is a sport people. How will we continue this sport with the next generations if we are hating on every aspect of their experience? These people are getting out and having fun in their rigs and learning how to do it right. Isn't that what off roading is all about? Not what you drive or where you drive it, it's about getting out and having fun. Anywhere anytime.

Great video! I just bought my first jeep (unlimited rubicon) and was looking for something like this that was instructional and helped demonstrate the differences of the different offroad settings. And ,for the people that were hating on the notations and explanations, if you already know what you're doing out there, then why are you watching an instructional video? Some of us are new to this sport and are still trying to get our feet wet without breaking our daily driver. thanks and I'll be watching more.

For the vast majority of people new to off roading the best anti-stuck device is a friend with their 4wd. It's better to just get out there and have fun gaining experience and good memories with friends than blowing a lot of cash on mods you might not even need. You don't want to spend thousands on mods you'll never use when a pair of trutracks & a set off 33" Duratracs would have done the trick.

Whenever you are wheeling, you really should have a winch and an anchor or PRT. Personally I have lockers, winch, PRT, 4 Tred recovery tracks and a 45" Hi lift jack as well as shackles a shovel and a winch extension strap and snatch strap. It always pays to have a backup. I once drove down a steep hill that had only one exit, at the top of the hill. I wore out a set of new tires getting out because my only recovery tool was a hand winch with 6 feet of cable. I had to winch 90 feet up that damn hill. When I got home 9 hours later I had 4 leaches on my legs and shoes full of my own blood. The adventure is out there go prepared!

Nice to see how some of these features make a huge difference. I like the wranglers but I have always been a Cherokee fan. With a lift, lockers, and customized bumper made of heavy steel with a winch, I will take that any day! Especially one that has the 4.0L, they offer spectacular off roading capabilities and drive real nice on pavement, also plenty of room in the back with seats down to sleep or fondle the old lady lol..

Dwayne Henning Why bother with the body lift/tummy tuck? In a TJ, your clearance issue will be your diff cases long before high centering. Unless you have an unlimited... Spend the money saved on a better suspension lift kit that has detachable front sway bar links and adjustable control arms.
@kevinrichardson8421
8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Hoffmann the diffs will only be an issue if you are trying to clear something like a bolder that is narrower than your axle. Most people who get tummy tucks are more concerned about being able to clear drop offs going up and down a near vertical wall. In those cases the wheels will never allow your diff to hit the edge of the drop but you can still get high centered in the middle.

I understand the need for lockers I have rarely ran into a Situation where I needed anything over 4 low and BLD. Most of the trails I have been on recommend it but I am a rebel haha. Lockers surely have their place, and I plan on getting some sooner or later. I live in Cali San diego area so I go to big bear hit trails there holcomb creek, gold mountain. and a few others. I haven't completed all of John bull yet due to day light issue and not wanting to run a trail I never been on in the dark (which is rated one of the hardest on the mountain) Coral Canyon and a few other spots. @rockymountboy
9 жыл бұрын
zartan z "Lockers" are "differential lockers" and lock the left and right sides together so the entire axle, and thus the wheels on both sides, spins at the same speed. If you have lockers front & rear, it truly becomes Four Wheel drive. Lockers are GREAT for dry rocky terrain and can pull you up some really steep inclines, but it is easy to spin right off the trail in slippery mud if you don't know what you are doing. Rubicons come with lockers, and I believe they are optional in other models. Price it out on the Jeep site.
