More than 3 years later this is still quite useful and every second remains valuable. The trick at the end is gold -- the one showing how to bounce a region in place using Join and avoid the workflow-stalling "bounce" dialog. Thank you MTHG!

I've been teaching professionally for over 20 years and can say that you are an amazing teacher. Your content is pitch perfect (pun intended - can't wait for the next video ;-) ), not patronising in the slightest, easily accessible but contains lots of detail which I know will lead me to watching these videos back again and again many times over. And I get all of this for free! Back in a sec - Just gonna set up a Patreon account :-) Happy to pay $1. Happy to encourage others to do the same.

*TIP* I found I have to do Flex Timing before I do Flex pitch, but Logic wasn't analyzing all the notes when I selected Flex Pitch. I found that when I "re-analyzed" the track for logic to read ALL the notes, I was losing my Flex Timing edits! If this is happening to you, here's a tip I discovered (I'm sharing on here because I'm too lazy to find the right thread in Apple Community and to make a video, but I want to help another lost soul). Flex Timing edits must be done first and then flex pitch can be edited. If Flex Timing is not commiting, make sure Flex Timing is turned on on the Original track. Copy the Original track, making sure Flex Timing is turned on on Copy track, and then bounce Copy track in place. This will commit Flex Timing edits on the bounced track so that you can open and re-analyze Flex Pitch edits on the bounced track without losing Flex Timing edits. If the bounced track isn't showing up after bouncing, just save, close, and re-open logic and bounce again.

I have a problem, I'm using Logic Pro and I wanna use Guitar Rig, I wanna be able to have multiple audio tracks with guitar rig on them but have each audio track have a different sound in guitar rig, what happens to me is that when I turn off guitar rig on one audio track, it's turned off on each track and any setting that I change on one track happens on every. I just wanna be able to have different audio fx on each track or have one with an audio effect and the rest just use the built-in amp fx logic comes with, thanks in advance!

Ok so i added a full track (off a cd album) to LPX (not a part of it like a drum loop etc), which already played correctly at 95.00 bpm throughout. I then turned on flex time like you show in order to be able to change the tempo of the entire track at will while I tried adding some beats to it and see what that sounded like. LPX analyzed the track and selected automatic polyphonic. I selected complex as you show also. But as soon as I quantized it by 1/8 beat like you did, LPX screwed the (initially correctly mixed) track up by expanding some segments between transient markers (grey waveform), and squashing others (white waveform)... Isn't there a better way to do this?

Your tutorials are excellent, thank you! I wish Logic would incorporate a "Commit" function similar to PT. Do you happen to know if there is anyway to use the pointer tool to click within a clip/region and have the playhead move to that spot as well (again, similar to PT)? This is the one thing that bugs me the most about the Logic workflow: having to constantly mouse up to the timeline to move the playhead...

right click on the play button and choose "play from marquee selection" and now it works like PT where u can click somewhere with ur marquee tool and hit space bar twice (if song is currently playing) and the play head will jump where ever u selected. Make sure u deselect any other choices in the play option

Hey help needed. Am trying to flex all instruments to a rock song to grid when it wasn't record to a click. The drums and bass sound fine but rooms and particularly guitars and vocals [which were recorded in stereo] when brighter (i.e what's shown @ 05:10 ), get really weird phase issues, even though I stretch everything. It's my first time doing this and have nailed the timing of it on the drum parts yet no matter what setting the flex is on, it sounds like I've stretched them at different times creating these phase problems even though it was done in a group. Same take just different amps and mics panned left and right. If anyone can tell me where I may be going wrong would be greatly appreciated; thanks.

Fantastic tutorial! One question: the very last point about splitting the region to trick Logic into 'rendering the flex time edits in place", is this necessary? In other words, does this mean that Logic isn't remembering the flex edit changes that we make to the audio files unless we do this? Thank you!
@MusicTechHelpGuy
3 жыл бұрын
No, you can skip the rendering. Logic will remember the flex edits. I just like to render them, so I can turn Flex Time off.

Isn't it possible to simply record one guitar track, copy it and drop it into a duplicate instrument track and pan it opposite and thus have an already quantized match rather than record the same guitar part twice?
@MusicTechHelpGuy
6 жыл бұрын
No. That’s just an identical recording and will just sound louder. It won’t actually give the guitar recording any width
