Switching to a vertical mouse has relieved so much wrist pain I used to have. I have issues with my wrists from my younger days using the palm of my hand as a hammer. I used to only be able to use a computer for about an hour at a time or so, before some major wrist pain set in, now I can use a computer all day without feeling any pain caused by the odd position that a typical (horizontal) mouse causes. I have bought 4 cheap ones (Delux M618), and use them everywhere, home, work, shop (soon to be in my garage) and one that I take with me, if I need to use my laptop for extended periods. I haven't had any problems with them, though my first one, that I've been using for about 3 years now or so, is MAYBE showing some signs of wearing out. Vertical mouse is one of the best computer related purchases I've made.

Used vertical mice before, tried most of what was available two-three years ago from the cheaper options. This is definitely a cheap move from logitech. Instead of adding all that you mention like the extra scroll, buttons, or even side customising options (to adjust for different hand shape/size), they just made the most basic version they can, and priced it way too high. Sorry, for that amount, there are Evoluent who have more experience in ergonomics. Hope Logitech gets it together for a v2 (love most of their products, just not this one).

I really liked all of them but the Ergo Plus added more stress to my hand and wrist after the surgery. I liked the Master 3 but the two flywheel's drove me crazy. But it moved great across surfaces. In the end I had to keep the Vertical because it honestly put the least amount of stress on my hand and wrist. "Laws of physics" don't work this way my friend, it works completely opposite! For any wheel with evenly distributes weights, it will rotate same way regardless of which angle you put it in. If the wheel is of low quality with obviously unevenly distributed weight, say part of it is a lot heavier, the best way to keep it rotate in constant speed is to put it horizontal(make its axis pointing to the earth). The worst way is to put it vertical, like they way it's in Mx master mouse, in that case you will observe periodical speed change in each rotation, and the wheel will always stop at same location. Given the MX Vertical's wheel which is more horizontal than the master, it is actually better for rotation in terms of how they are positioned, because of the law of physics :)

My worn MX Master just feels like an old friend when I hold it, I’ve worn those fancy shapes on the gesture button smooth to the point where my thumb has its own notch to rest in, the clickers have shiny smooth patches where my fingers click, and the top of the mouse is super shiny from use, that might irritate some people but I quite like it, it feels so personal now I’d be heartbroken if this mouse ever died on me.

I was considering a vertical mouse. If it was a vertical MX Master with the same features and quality, would be perfect. Without, will not consider it. iI use the MX Master as my daily desktop driver and the MX Anywhere 2 for mobile. Both are excellent for long stints. Having used a mouse since the days of the original Macintosh, I have found these to be the best suited to date for my needs. The MX Master (and MX Anywhere) is very well made, comfortable, and I use all of the extra buttons and gesture pad for more efficient, productive work. in fact, wish there were several additional buttons. They are weighted just right, an important feature not noted, heavier than most, which helps precision cursor placement and lowers fatigue over long periods of use. Originally I thought they were overpriced, but now that I have used them since they first came out, both are well worth the price. If UR a professional, well worth the addition, and for many, request it via UR companies procurement process as an adaptive device to minimize future medical complications. Have found the MX Master performs very well with most games.

Any chance you could do a review of the Evoluent vertical mice? The wireless ones especially. I've been using a cheap Anker for years now, and I'm wondering if it's worth buying a more expensive one. And, for anyone thinking about a vertical mouse, try one of the cheap ones. I spent $20 on my Anker, and it's helped a lot. I can't really imagine going back to a normal mouse.

I tried this mouse and it works great, on top of that I was happy that with this mouse I could use the same receiver as my keyboard, the problem however is that it is HUGE! My hand keeps falling off and I can't reach the buttons well. Logitech please make a smaller version like eg Evoluent which also has different sizes. I am obligated to use a cheap Chinese one now, which works ok, but isn't great.

So it's called an MX, it's in the same line as the Master 2, it costs the same, but doesn't have the single largest defining feature of the master being the darkfield sensor? It also has less functionality? They need to drop the price significantly.

I couldn’t agree more with your review. I get hand/wrist strain from mouse usage but i am also addicted to the features of my master 2S. I don’t understand why they decided to not have the same features. I really feel they missed the boat here. It’s difficult to comprehend why someone would drop $100 on this mouse when a $15 vertical mouse on Amazon has same buttons.

@GourmetGringo Ive noticed cheap peripherals dont hold up very well, especially wireless. You get what you pay for.

I've had an MX Vertical for just under two years. The left button is failing, effectively making it impossible to click and drag. The buttons feel pretty cheep and so whilst it's really disappointing, it's not really a surprise it failed so early.

Getting a vertical mouse soon, though being left handed, I use my right for mouse and my left when using my pc tablet.

2:17 I cringed so hard at that shot... I've always used traditional mice in the past, but I recently bought a 3m joystick ergo mouse at a Goodwill, and came to really enjoy it. However, it broke on me during an intense gaming session, so I had to revert back the the Logitech M525 I'd been using previously. Despite the fact that it had never given me issues before, I immediately felt the difference in ergonomics, and found it physically painful, and disgusting to use. I've since purchased an Evoluent model 3, and have been thoroughly impressed with it. However, the week or so I spent back with a traditional mouse was utter hell, as I couldn't use it for more than a few minutes at a time before the discomfort became too distracting to continue. At this point, I don't think I could ever switch back to anything non vertical again.

How does it compare to the MX Master for gaming? The mx master seems to track pretty well and not too much perceivable latency for me.

I currently have Microsft's Sculpt Mouse. I'm debating whether to switch to this Logitech one. What do you think? Please advise. Similarities and differences. I have both Microsoft keyboard and Logitech one, so universal usb is no issue for both. Just wanting to see which mouse works better.

I'm left handed but I've always used a mouse right handed. Left handed just feels wrong. I think it's because literally every computer I've ever used had a right handed setup, so I had no choice but to get used to it.

Does someone know a good and cheaper alternative that truly works? The price for this mouse is way too much and I can’t afford ATM because of the exchange rate of the moment.

I just bought the MX Vertical at Staples. I like it so far but I have large hands and it fits nicely. Still trying to figure out those 2 buttons on the top left side though. Also I'm on Mac. Been using Apple's Magic mouse for a long time and that think sometimes has a mind of its own. Pages slide out and a host of other sloppy problems. Main thing is I can't connect via Bluetooth. I'm in touch with Logitech for help. Right now Using the USB which is great. Charging the magic mouse is on the bottom so no mouse while charging. this MX still works. How Cool is that? Im not a gamer but I do some CAD designs for my 3D printer; so far is seems to work well for me.

Update. Both my MX Mouse and MX Keys were returned as junk. My Opinion only! I just couldn't get them to work right with my iMac. good thing I bought the extended warranty. got all m money back. Right now I'm back to Apple's magic mouse and my wired keyboard.

If that featured customisable or even a basic array of buttons around the thumb, maybe. I have a gaming mouse and use so many profiles I don't think I could go back. Even just web browsing would be a slightly less streamlined experience without the functions of my existing mouse (Roccat Nyth).

It's really sad that this mouse cannot really keep up with the master 2s. I would have liked if it had a touchpad in the place for the thumb for gestures like switching between desktops. The lack of the typical logitech scroll wheel is also a bummer. I am sure it would have been possible. The last little annoyance is the software. It is most certainly windows only.

I have ordered one this week. I will keep my Razer gaming mouse for gaming, but for SW developing and web browsing, I will keep this Logitech. It is pricy for what it gives, but you cant place a pricetag on your health.

Because my wrist is already feeling some pain, so if the next iteration includes all at least 80% of the features on the MX Master 2S, I will pull the trigger in an instant. Right now it feels a bit overpriced, even if it's just selling the shape. And personally I think the design looks gorgeous. But still I hope this mouse gets a good reception since I want Logitech to make more vertical variants.

i disagree alot with the mouse wheel not being able to freescroll. that shouldve 100% been on this. it would not have made a big enough difference to say no. plus if theyre spinning on bearings anyways then it wouldnt have mattered what orientation this woulda need to be on.

They think only their wallet. They see their customers as idiots. Where're these specifications which were available in previous model MX master: Speed-adaptive scroll wheel (which really make it easy to scroll down on pages, Thumb wheel (which is vital for me, I use it for volume up-down in my current mx master), Gesture button and Darkfield high precision sensor (I use mx master on glass surface but tried mx vertical and didn't work). Fuck its perfection. It's nothing but a shit! They were supposed to add new specifications but they cut them and doubled the price. Is it so difficult to combine being ergonomic with these useful specifications which were already available? No of course. But they love playing with costumers like cat-mice play. It's nothing but insulting the costumers. I bougth it and returned it back for this reason.
