K000Y nope, it’s just how things come back round, everybody was saying most of the slang you use nowadays back then in the 90s, and guess what’s been fashionable the last few years and currently.. the 90s. It’s great seeing comments like the above, seeing people finding out more about the culture before them. True say I don’t like getting old, but I am glad I grew up during the 80/90s

I remember these dudes!! I'm from the states but I'm a big fan of BBC 1xtra, never knew that Rodney P was this dude from London Posse!! These cats were the first britsh cats I think anyone in America were even curious about other than the more US sounding Monie Love and Slick Rick...Those accents were unique. Props to them this was quality Golden Era music
@ukbloke28
5 жыл бұрын
I hated what Monie Love did. She'd rap like she was straight NY then do an interview and chat straight London. London Posse really opened the door to future generations here to embrace their own accents and more to the point their own identities. I can't see how Grime etc could've happening without them. Besides which, they are still miles better than the vast majority of Grime MCs.

Loved all of this UK Rap and Hip Hop/Britcore stuff around abouts 1989-90 onwards. London Posse,Gunshot,Hijack,Hardnoise,Son of Noise,Blade,Dominant Force,Katch 22,Killa Instinct,Criminal Minds,Demon Boyz,Caveman,Overlord X,Silver Bullet,Mc Duke,Einstein,SL Troopers,The Brotherhood,Credit To The Nation,Mighty Ethnicz,Cookie Crew,Cash Crew,F.O.R.C.E.,Mc Mello,etc. Very raw,underground,independent and should have been supported alot more by the likes of Tim Westwood but unfortunately it was also up against the more popular Acid House/Raves and evolving Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle/DnB scene and movement even though there was an obvious link with the UK's passion for the use and sampling of classic Funk and Soul breaks and beats at that time not to mention speeding those 'breaks' up alot. London Posse stood out alot more though because they were some of the first to fully use their own accents and slang with a mixture of their West Indian roots and Cockney east London which obviously influenced modern uk rap genres a few years later like Grime,UK Garage,DnB/Jungle etc

You're spot on. Early '90s It was all about rave/hardcore for me. Didn't know this stuff existed, apart from some Demon Boyz, Silver Bullet, Criminal Minds crossover stuff. Also shout out to Def Defiance. Rhyme Children puts a proper smile on my face.

I jumped off a moving bus at Marble Arch to say so too as I saw them film….I walked into shot and asked how Rod was…the shot when he’s posing in front of a Bank doorway..tldr: the Directors/Producers went on to do work to do much more eg So Solid Krew 21 Seconds.. jus saying. Find Max and Dania… they are now making movies the last time I looked… they also did a few Craig David’s immsmc…me and Dania were also kinda related to the Soul2Soul scene…lots of GREAT memories and FUN!😝

Are you possibly part-Maori? Did I buy my first MuddyFox off yer brother? 😁 The name will come to me by Xmas 2021; prolly!😜 I know you know Dania better that I did/do etc but I can see faces still to this day from Back Then! D and I share the same Birthday…I still have some Polaroids from the Caron Wheeler UKBlak Vid…that I have NEVER seen…you also worked with that NUTTER director that did the VW Ads with Velvet Underground music driving over ball bearing with tubby blokes painted silver? The Ads of the girl/passenger perspective being driven around New York? He then went on to do “Art”… installing a live Tramp in the Tate Gallery? 😆 Ooooor did you work in Body Shop fer Dania’s Mum? I could go on and you’ll never see this…most likely. 😝 Great times a lot of great people… even Rodney tbh. I may even have a portrait I did of him somewhere which will prolly end up in Landfill sooner than later now..we also did a London Posse related vid I CANNOT find EVER… the one that Nintendo used a sample from to launch in Euroland…shot on the Edgware Road Estate aaand the Gray’s Inn Buildings over in KX….I deffo have transparencies still from that day…like you said… small crew… excellent people.. even London Posse were “professional”…. and I still see a LOT of this vid’s STYLE being used TODAY even! 🤓
