My last long ride was in 2016 ... Rode down the SC , then on over to TN . Probably the best thing I had with me was my hydration backpack. Loved that thing. I’d stop every so often , and buy a jug of water and fill it up. Rain gear.. waterproof/windproof overpants, but then I lost a lot of weight so they don’t fit anymore and had to buy another overpants. Rain jacket .. yellow or orange. Stay safe.

2017 from Indiana to Drummondville Qubec, Canada. 100% No Interstate. Not one time. Yes your travel time, miles, cost go up some but you see America. Lots of State Highways county roads and one road in NY I could hear banjos playing. Wife on her Can-Am Spyder me on my Goldwind. Your right about interstates for point A to B travel. To get to the Hootenanny this year. I will interstate some. See you there I hope.

Long rides!!!! AMEN to everything you said! Can't wait to do the Route66 ride! I don't mind being hungry, but water....I need gallons of it. A hydration vest sounds like a good investment for rides like this. The crash bar cam worked sawweet!!! And the battery pack on the helmet...Nice touch! I bet you don't have to worry about batteries any more! Ride safe brother!

I don't even run a battery in the gopro any more, works fine on the big battery and with a 128GB sd card and the battery I can run 8 hours without stopping. I've caught a video or two that I wasn't even trying to get.

A lot of good info. If you head north in July, you should probably figure on two 550 mile days. I did it in 1, but if the weather doesn't cooperate it can be a pretty miserable ride. I didn't go near NY, DC, or Philly, I think the best route keeps you west of the coast. You can head east to NH after you've gotten to the Boston area. Hope you make it.

Last long trip was the Hoot in 2017. I went from my home in Connecticut (with Freedom Rider and Ridin Country) to North Carolina and Tennessee (where I met you!). Sure, the distance was far, but we planned in advanced enough time to get there. I still can't believe I saw and rode all of that. We took 84 to 81 all the way down. 81 was the best highway that I've ever ridden on. Totally awesome. I'm not one for highway riding at all, given my motorcycle and whatnot, but I loved riding on 81. It was beautiful. I know you are apprehensive about the distance, and that's fine, but do what you think is best. If you give yourself a day or two for travel, the distance is no problem. Take your time and enjoy the sights. I hope to see you there! Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. TCRSMF!

Interstate.........Booooooooo......good for point A to B quickly. Otherwise...2 Lane back roads for me. 450-500 miles plenty a good day in my book. But did 735 one day of Arkansas twisties and interstellar with a rider from OK. Had a blast. Regarding gear. Guys buy a $30k Bike and only wanna spend $200 on gear...I don't get it. It's an investment in the lifestyle of Riding in my book. Great vid bud!

Fantastic Mike! But when I do back roads I can't seem to make that kind of time what with stop signs, getting caught by every light etc. Ends up taking me twice as long. As you said A to B with time constraints usually means freeway for me.
