This was 1965. A lot of things have since changed concerning the AAC and Wallop...

Brilliant video. Thanks for posting this. Just when I think I've seen all the stuff ever filmed about the A.A.C. or anything else about the Cold War military, a treasure like this emerges.

Just watched the video of training Chopper Pilots. I believe the Cyclops "2 RTR" sergeant is John Hennessey. He and I first met at WOSB at Westbury.I later joined him in the PARACHUTE SQUADRON RAC

I might have got his surname wrong, it could have been Hendricks ; it was 55 years ago.At the time I was flying Brantley's ( Rotors) privately at Kidlington whilst doing my Para jumping at RAF Abingdon.Remember The 101 Club ??.Best food I ever had in the Army. Memories. Ah !!

Can never look at a Bell helicopter without thinking of M.A.S.H. You have to be a certain age to know what that was.

BAOR used to use the Bells in Rheindahlen when I lived there as a child. Not many children can look out of their classroom window and see a helicopter land yet, because they were used to ransport high-ranking officers to the "Big House", it was - if not exactly routine - fairly commonplace.
