True story - I went to high school with Gerald McClellan and in my senior year in an art class I was sitting across from two guys- one tall slender dude and the other short, stocky and a big mouth. The big mouth started talking shit to me and then said “ you getting tough…I’ll sick my boy here on you!” I said “ I’ll take him after you”. Not knowing who he was. Gerald just smiled and told his buddy to stop causing trouble-we looked at each other and nodded like it was over and no big deal. The next week over morning announcements they said “ we’d like to congratulate our own Gerald McClellan for winning the 1987 Milwaukee Golden Gloves contest! Lol. The reasons why it's easier to get knocked out after a match you've been KO'ed in: 1. Aura of invincibility is gone. 2. Self-assuredness of never losing is also extinct. 3. Your opponents know your weakness(es) and are willing to exploit it (or them) like jackals. 4. Perhaps you overtrain after a loss to compensate, which makes you more susceptible to gassing out and getting tagged hard. 5. You can never get back what Father Time takes away.

well duhh, boxing is purely a striking sport while MMA is literally mixed martial arts, boxers don't have access to the range of styles available in mma so need to specialise usually in either speed or power (sometimes you get boxing legedns who are proficient in both Tyson, Ali, SRL etc). With mma You can go with speed or power in combination with bjj or wrestling. Tbh MMA is like rock paper scissors, except if paper was overpowered lol. Typically in a 1v1 grappling is superior to striking especially in mma. Put most boxer on there back and they are like deer in headlights lol they dont know what to do. Rock=striking paper=grappling/bjj scissor= slight combination of both kind of like combat bjj with stinking or sambo basically ground and pound. people who don't understand boxers hit harder don't watch enough combat sports. put Mayweather in the octogen and hes getting wrecked after a double leg. my favourite is when DJ suplexed a guy into an armbar. shit was ridiculous lool

Ray then told his cornermen that Tommy had been using steroids, which turned out to be true, and they needed to rethink their strategy. I remember when Mohammed Ali fought past his prime and got the hell beat out of his brain. I remember, after Sugar Ray Leonard was smashed in the press for months that he danced so wonderfully in the ring, only because he couldn't take a punch, the one fight where Sugar Ray Leanard stood toe to toe with Roberto Duran (which Sugar won) and never talked the same again. I remember when Marvin Hagler went from a great speaker to a guy who could barely speak, after getting hit in the head over and over and over. There is a very high cost to this sport, yet it is the most basic sport of all time. Like Joe said, have a ref in there who is a match for both of the fighters. You can save a life that way.

Yep. People may say what they want about Mayweather, but he himself said it's about hitting and not getting hit yourself. If you could do that shit then you are the master of the sweet science. @@tyrfree5733 I completely agree, Foreman was so tall. boxers spent most their time trying to beat his body to a pulp. Foreman also had a reach that would clock a ticket in a heartbeat too. And Mr. Foreman sounds great today unlike 90% of the other retired boxers. When Sugar Ray Leonard stood toe to toe with Roberto Duran, I was almost in tears because Duran beat on Ray as hard as he could, and Ray refused to dance like he always did. Jack Dempsey vs Willard was most brutal match in boxing history. It will never be reproduced with the rules for safety today. Most knock downs in 1 round than any other fight. I think Dempsey knocked Willard down 8 times in the 1st round. Dempsey knocked all Willard’s teeth out, broke his cheek bone , eye socket, broke 3 of his ribs, broken jaw , nose, busted blood vessels in Willard’s forearms. All done in 1st round. Dempsey went with out a scratch the whole fight. Willard 7 inches taller had 85 pounds on Dempsey. Willard killed 1-2 guys in the ring. Dempsey holds the record of heavyweight champions with most stone cold knockouts 100 years later. Mike Tyson holds the record by knockouts by 1 more than Dempsey ,but Mike Tyson could get a knockout from TKO or 3 knockdown rule, Dempsey had to knock them out cold for it to count back then.
