You absolutely hit the nail on the head. I played the WCW World Tour, Revenge, and Wrestlemania 2000 games with friends, along with stuff like Mario Kart 64. By the time No Mercy came out, my friend group went our separate ways, and I ended up playing No Mercy on my own. Also, I was unlucky enough to get a first printing that had the save bug on it. IIRC there was also slow down in No Mercy, so I'm an outlier who actually doesn't think much of No Mercy at all. The previous three AKI wrestling games hold some of my favorite memories of playing video games with friends, though. After No Mercy came out and I was kind of whatever about it, I didn't end up playing a wrestling game until Smackdown vs Raw 2006.I just replayed Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000 for a few years. Oh, so here's one more random video game I have great memories of playing with friends- Duke Nukem: Time to Kill on Playstation, haha.

Now, I would've had fun with Mario Party too and I tried to act grateful, but I'm sure some disappointment must've shown on my face. When I opened the box and WM2000 came out, I was stunned. I loved WM2000 at the time. It was miles ahead of Attitude. Yeah, No Mercy stole its thunder after not too long, but I look back on it very fondly. I was 15 at the time. My grandpa was dying at home and I wasn't ready for it. It was my first encounter with death in the family. So I drove to a friend's house and stayed there overnight. He had just got "Wrestlemania 2000" and we played it all night, even though I was a big WCW fan and didn't really like the WWF (yes, even at that time). So we didn't sleep at all and the next morning my dad called me and told me that my grandpa had passed away peacefully. I drove home and said goodbye to grandpa, before the ... Undertaker ... picked him up. Sad, but also crazy memories of my childhood.

However, he was already very old and had been blind for over 10 years, relying on a wheelchair for just as long. I have been taking care of him since I was 6 years old, feeding him, reading to him, shaving him, pushing him in his wheelchair. I loved this old man, who at that time was not fighting for his life but wanted to be finally relieved of his long suffering. It was a blessing that he could die at home and not in the hospital, but as I already said: I simply was not ready to understand and bear that, so I fled to my friend. Death scared me a lot back then and, by the way, still does today. Now I know how to deal with it differently. Wrestlemania 2000 was not only my first wrestling game, but still my favorite. In terms of No Mercy, the smackdown mall and the create a wrestler were the highlights. The only issues I had with the game compared to WM2000 was the face textures were worse in most cases, the career mode was based off of story lines from the previous year and there was no calendar year. The shows were random. In WM2000 the career mode made you feel like your a wrestler paying your dues and earning title shots felt like a badge of honor. Along side WWF Attitude, this career mode was precursor to Shut your Mouth and Here comes the Pain career modes. The cutscenes were few and far apart, but back in 1999 there was nothing like it. At the time we knew it was only going to get better.

I was a freshman in high school when this came out, so it was that perfect sweet spot for me and my neighborhood buddies in gaming. While we played World Tour and Revenge more, this was a mind-blowing experience for us and so excited to play WWE wrestlers for once on the AKI engine. Eventually, I managed to get my hands on a VPW2 cart, but despite it being superior, my friends all wanted to play Wrestlemania 2000. Part of it was the language barrier. I printed out a complete translation of every menu in the game, but it was tedious for my friends to navigate. It was also a lack of knowledge about Japanese wrestlers. Why play Minoru Suzuki when you could be The Rock? Even when I got my Gameshark to translate the cart, it just wasn't enough. Great video! Brought up a lot of fond memories.

And I don’t think any game will ever surpass the couch co op and multiplayer sessions I had with my friend, making my first wrestler, or editing names

One of the best things about this game was that you could simulate really good CPU vs CPU matches. So using the Create a Wrestler mode where there were so many CAWs that people posted I was able to make a huge roster, then I would run weekly events of similated matches with feuds and titles etc. I then had a website/email list of players and each week they would have £100 fake money to bet on the winners with certain matches giving better odds etc and then cumulative player tables etc. Was a lot of fun, especially as I could let things develop and use the way matches went to build storyline and grudge matches.

I got this on clearance at a Target as a kid for about 20 USD right around Christmas, and this was after No Mercy was out but I couldn't afford it. I spent so much time with this game making custom wrestlers and custom belts, and had huge headcanon stories of alliances and betrayals. I loved that the custom title history showed you the list of owners, too, so it really felt like the storylines in my head were alive. Excellent game and one of my favorite N64 titles to date. Plus it didn't have the No Mercy bug that sometimes wiped the entire memory slot on cart!

My favorite N64 wrestling game of all time. I still have my original launch copy with my original save file... and I still play it regularly! I have the version with blood, too... didn't realise that made me one of the lucky ones! I've been waiting for you to cover this one for quite a while!

Was it this game that had a bug where it would corrupt your memory card? and when THQ patched it in a later re-issue, the WWF also asked them to remove blood from the game? I know it was either this or No Mercy.

Save glitch was No Mercy. You didn't get blood in WM2000 but it was in the game. You could make the settings options visible with an AR code and once it's on you don't need the AR every time.

Wrestlemania 2000 and wwf no mercy is still the best wrestling games. The only thing 2k games got is the graphics got better, and the 2k wrestling games got junk.

The mechanics are what set these games above the others. I was fighting my brother as SCSA, he was The Rock, he had the upper hand. My Special meter wasn't depleted but he was building momentum on me. Eventually, he tried to use the Rock Bottom on me, and I was able to time my reversal right and my Special meter lit up so I hit him with a Stunner out of nowhere, just like you would see on TV. Every other game it's build, build, build, attempt, build, build, build, attempt, yadda yadda yadda.

I remember going to Target when i was a kid with my mom to grab this. There was only one left. Another kid and his mom was already there waiting for whoever they grabbed to get the keys to unlock the glass door. I was freaking out, i happened to get the attention of a worker who had the keys on them already, unlocked it, grabbed it. The kid was complaining as i was walking away filled with excitement. Ill never forget that day 😅

You have an impressive knowledge of gaming for a wrestling channel! I think you'd enjoy the Giant Gram series on the Naomi/Dreamcast. They were handled in house by SEGA and waaaaaaay better than the Royal Rumble game made by Yukes

That's game will always be dear to my heart. My grandma bought this game for me during Thanksgiving week 1999 back when I was still in High School. I remembered picking Stone Cold as my first pick to play against Triple H. I couldn't stop playing that game for Two hours then. Thanksgiving Eve I completed the Road to WrestleMania journey by playing Stone Cold Steve Austin. I only lost four matches in that journey but it was. Man memories with this game.

The hours spend on this game, revenge and no mercy should be some kind of record. From gameplay, roster to nostalgia. Still a blast to play to this day!

Wrestlemania 2000 allowed tag teams to come out together if you had the same titantron and song. No mercy took that feature out.

Loved all AKI wrestling games, but this one got a special place in my heart. I remember being able to recreate the entire WCW Revenge roster in Wrestlemania 2000 and spending countless hours setting WWF vs WCW dream matches we never saw during the Invasion angle ❤

My favorite part of these games, besides creating my own characters, is editing the in-game characters based on how matches went. If I work on someone's ribs for a while, I put them in the bandages. I once sprayed Vince in the face with the green mist and then put him in the metal mask because I burned his face. Then I put him in the AKI-Man gear and he became Robot Vince. People who interfered in my matches the most were put in skirts and dresses. It was never-ending fun.

Before this attitude and War Zone where my favorites but only because of the extensive creative character, when this game came out though my friends and I went crazy with the Creator character, the move choices were so extensive it had every taunt for you to make any person from any Federation I was able to make myself and all my friends I got bored and started making bands like Nirvana Rage Against the Machine I even made James Bond. This game is basic text your wise but the game runs smooth in America ( didn't know the BS you fellas over there we're dealing with). This game is all about the creative character which is top-notch

I loved playing this game when it came out and I loved playing it during the lockdown. Something a bit odd about the Road-to-Wrestlemania mode is that, if you don’t win the Royal Rumble, you cannot end the mode with the WWF championship belt. I haven’t tried it, but I feel like if you want to end with the top belt, it doesn’t matter how many matches you lose, as long as you win the Royal Rumble and the Wrestlemania match. Nevertheless, I still love this game, it takes me back… just like this channel! 😁

THIS was my favorite wrestling game as a kid. I played a good bit of WCW/NWO Revenge at my friends' house, but eventually I ended up getting a copy of Wrestlemania 2000 that became our new favorite. So many nights of sleepovers where we battled using our own CAWs and forming our own stables to have battle it out on own custom PPV cards. We both eventually lost interest in wrestling and so never picked up No Mercy, but even years later we would still pop in WM2000 for the odd battle and have a great time.

I would love an update to the WCW World Tour/Revenge video, but I don't think there would be a need to delete the original one. Let people see and appreciate the evolution of your style and approach, that's part of the fun.

After playing attitude for months, this game was like the GOAT to me in late 1999. Fighting wirh friends over created titles, creating ridiculous characters, even playing the career mode over and over was great. I honestly wish more games today had a similar career mode, God knows Fight Forever could use it
