😢 I am so sorry .... hugs and prayers for comfort 💙 (just wanted to add , remember God is not the author of confusion , nor of heartbreak ... If anything to be "learned " in this , the enemy wants to hold you back , discourage you . It knows your doing great things for the Kingdom and wants to stop you . God may be speaking to you of scaling back , but those losses is not his language 💙)

Hi from Nelson County, VA! So grateful that y'all share the ups and downs. Loss is so hard, but rest in knowing you steward the land and the animals in a way that praises the Lord. We follow you guys because we so respect the natural way y'all are committed to farming. Praying for you and for Goat girly that she recovers!

Hello, We lost 7 of our goat girls and babies, one right after the other due to a copper and selenium deficiency. Even though we had trace mineral blocks and tubs. It seemed to come on all of a sudden and left us feeling helpless and devastated. Your goats, your dog, Simba and all other family members are in our prayers. Maybe the lesson is community and that we are not alone in this journey.❤🙏

A sudden loss of a pet can be very traumatizing. Our dog died right in front of me from either a heart attack or stroke and it happened so fast. One minute he was with me and the next he was gone. I had a very hard time dealing with losing him. It is never easy. So sorry for your family's loss.

With goats it's so valuable to have a microscope and learn to do fecals. It's hard to shoot blindly especially with parasites. You could put lots of time an energy into them and be treating the wrong thing. We had a goat scouring like CRAZY and it turns out she had a bacterial overgrowth and not parasites. I only got to that conclusion by running fecals.

Oh Jill my heart breaks for you. It is never easy. They say having a farm you will experience dead stock. That's so true but it still hurts every time. We had a rough year this year in the spring when our doe's had their babies. We had one momma give birth to 3 babies. Two boys and one girl. However, the girl was like a week premature and so she didn't make it. She is so stinking cute!! We had another one give birth to two and one was born deformed. She had a cleft palette. She lived for almost 6 months and passed. I didn't have the heart to put her down because she had a will to live!! So we let her do her own thing. I'm actually writing a kids book about her. I will pray for Millie to pull through. It's so hard to get so attached and then something happens. I will give you this encouragement, I have had goats off and on my entire adult life and have only had maybe 5 pass away. I think goats are so much easier to keep alive than what most people give it credit. Jill just take a few days to get through your emotions and put your boots back on and get back to that beautiful farm!! I love you and will be praying for peace and serenity!! ❤

Even the most solid military teams know when they need to retreat, rethink, pause and regroup before going back out there. In your toughest moments, it's so valuable to remember this farm is grown with heart and passion - but it's good to retreat when under severe attacks. By that, it's good to go social media quiet. It's good to sit and cry in the barn. It's good to give it to God and allow Him to fill all those broken spaces. Pause. Regroup. Recharge off camera. When the military has a new plan and EVERYONE understands the mission, it's GO TIME. Retreat for your family, pause, make a fresh mission and THEN come back with heart and passion for the new season. ❤ Love you all

We had a miscarriage and job loss right at Covid. We bought several goats that we budgeted for beforehand so that was a good distraction and we got LGDs and chickens. Through my grief I grew a lot but also struggled with ptsd and avoidance. We experienced dead stock and heartbreak with animals too after and in some ways I handled it and it helped me heal more about my baby loss but also some cases triggered me more. It’s so hard, but one thing I do know is that it has helped me see the joy and the beauty in nature and Gods existence and His work. He has shown me how well my hubby and I work together and how our family perseveres and gets stronger in our work and humility. It has made us better vets too. 😉 I am so sorry for your heartbreaks and trials on the farm, but the Lord is continuing to put away the deeds of the body and build your inheritance with Him. Just keep moving forward and every now and then stop and Pause at the tapestry of grace He is building in you. Thank you for reminding me that we can do this not because we have to but because we felt called to it and that stewardship is part of our human existence that will build treasures beyond our own life.

I know only too well the pain of loss on the farm, including the LGD's, sickness in the flock, and also cougar attacks. It's so hard to keep going at times but I know you will, by God's grace, pull through this and keep going.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sometimes there is nothing you can do to prevent things from happening. I raised Boer goats for 10 years. I came out to feed one morning to find my best mama goat had broken her front leg completely in 2. I have no idea how she could have done it. Had to put her down. Devastating. The hardest part was knowing the pain she was in. The stress of the emergent situation and the grief that follows is hard, painful, and exhausting. I pray for you to have time to cry, time to mourn and time to heal. God bless you.

I’m so sorry to hear that these sad things happened to you, my most favorite farm friend was my goat Truffles, I bought her from a local chicken auction and it was definitely a rescue, she was so much like having a dog, she ended up having a bad bacteria along with an ulcerated wound on her chest from bad living conditions, me and a vet worked hard to save her and give her a long life, unfortunately I only got to enjoy her for a couple of years 💕💗 Hang in there, I’m praying for your other goat 🙏💗 God bless you, your family and your farm ♥️🙏

Man! Those are some BIG hits all at the same time. People who don't have dairy animals can't relate to that intimate relationship and the massive loss when that animal dies. I am so sorry you are going through this. It sounds like you have a grasp of where you might go from here to best serve you and your farm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with downsizing if it's what works best for you. May God give you the wisdom to know what to do next. Tip on the salt block...loose salt is generally easier for critters to get enough for their needs. If you don't have loose salt, you could probably smash up some of that block you have just so she can more easily get all she wants.

I’m sorry that it came right after such a lovely trip for you. editing to add i wish i could sit and chat and that would make everything better for y’all and Millie. the best little high i see in this video, is that sweet little girl, saying hi and seeing the love you have for your family, your kids, and sharing the ins and outs, as raw and sometimes stinky as it may be at times. I am a new subscriber and I just saw this today. I raised dairy goats for years and a loss is devastating. They are a part of your family. I had a goat that would get sick when she was pregnant and right after kidding. One time she was completely down and the vet said that she would not make it, I ask him for a shot of Thiamine and he said it would not work, but I demanded that he give it to me. We injected into the main vein in her neck, since she was in pretty bad shape and needed to get it in her system quickly. Within 45 minutes she was up and eating.. Strange but true. Good luck to you!

So sorry for your family’s losses of Simba and Maybelle, and praying for your Millie! We lost our 2 (15 yo) family dogs last spring after battling heart conditions in both of them for quite some time! They passed within 3 weeks of each other, it’s always soooo hard (crying now as I think of them 😢💔) In the midst of all that (between their deaths), a new puppy arrived, that my husband INSISTED on getting then (as his way to cope, I suppose). While it was indeed HARD keeping a hyper, playful puppy away from our very frail old girl, our new Sheltie, Cody, certainly helped us cope! So happy you have some puppies of Simba’s to love on!
