When MLK went to India he was shocked to be met by a crowd of Untouchables who broke into We Shall Overcome because in India the caste called Dalit, felt their struggles were the same as American blacks and MLK came to see it was the same

This song has ALWAYS meant so very much to me ..First because my great grandparents on my mother's side of the family in New Orleans .. Black Spanish French Creoles fed Louis Armstrong as a child ..right along with their children my future grandfather ..great aunts and uncle ..Second because I myself lived through the Civil Rights Era from start to finish ..I saw it play out before my very eyes as a child and well into my older teenage years ..some of my uncles on both sides were lawyers ..doctors ..and business people ..but ALL were activists and organizers ..the lawyers in the family traveled to different sections of the South fighting on the side of justice .. often defending protesters .. sharecroppers that were jailed for trying to register to vote ..and any other nonsense that Old Jim Crow would dish out ..my family taught us young ones to be strong during that struggle and the many more to come.. thinking of those days brings back memories both good and bad .. Thank You .. to all of the strong men .. women and children that sacrificed so much on the front lines and behind the scenes ..so that We Shall Overcome Someday..

The Gospel: JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)!!…..

I do believe. We stand for George Floyd because he can't...and so many others. Black, brown, red, Yellow, no more! We are people,the beautiful colors you made derogatory, we celebrate! We are not "where we came from"! We can celebrate our culture and heritage and still be a "real American" We are not "overreacting"! We are not "playing the race card". Racism IS a thing, and it's my right to speak against it!
@madamc3458

Racism is a "thing". Your words, not mine. I am compete mixed bag of Western and Eastern European. But I am white. This song is about so much more. We all (whatever colour we are) need to overcome a load of shit that is thrown at us and find strength and happiness in life xxxx
