@ialsoagree1634
4 ай бұрын
The trailer definitely lost a tire, if you watch closely you can see the tire rolling down the shoulder ( 10:33 but it's much easier to see it separate from the trailer/the vicinity of the trailer if you go frame by frame). The trailer either had fuel/oil in it and it was leaking, or there was fuel/oil on the road. I'm betting that the frame impacting the median barrier caused a spark ( 10:41 ). If you watch the video closely, you can clearly see the fire begins at the bottom/underneath the trailer and near the barrier. This is likely because there was a spark during the impact at the barrier that ignited something on the road surface. Could have been something that was already there, or something that the trailer was leaking. It's hard to tell. EDIT: Going frame by frame, it looks like the back left rotor (guessing the wheel is already gone) impacts the barrier and causes a spark. Something ignites around the rotor/along the road surface, so there was probably a gasoline spill or a oil that had leaked onto the road. Gasoline and oil are much denser than air, so even if they evaporate they'll remain near the road surface. It's why gasoline/oil spills can be so dangerous, unless you physically clean up/soak up the spill, it stays there for a long time.
@nehpets216

@@ialsoagree1634 The Flame looks like gasoline, and at 10:28 you can see the trail behind which makes it look like it was leaking from the back left side of the trailer (if it was fumes on the roadway it would have spread out and burnt out faster), probably a gas canister in the trailer that got knocked over and ignited once it hit the barrier.

@@MeppyMan Mine is really good. After a road rager rammed my truck, their insurance said that, because it was a purposeful act, they would not cover it. Not only did my insurance cover the entire amount, they sued the other driver's insurance (and lost) for me (and them). Since they lost, I told my insurance I was filing in court (I was cited for 'negligent driving' for not reacting in time to avoid the collision) and they set me down with a lawyer to give me my best arguments. I won in court. My negligent driving citation was paid by the rager AND my insurance was reimbursed for the $2800 they paid out. Hey, it gets better. The total for Mr Rage : His car was totaled (why use an Oldsmobile Alero to attack a 2500HD Diesel truck that is carrying just short of a ton of scrap metal?) so he had to get a replacement car, he had to pay my damages, he was now listed with insurance as a 'high risk driver' and had to get special 'high risk' car insurance, he had a charge of vehicular assault, display of a firearm (why I refused to stop for him, why am I cited with negligence?), pay for the damage to the bridge structure he hit when I bumped (that was all it was, a 20 mph bump) at $6800, and for traffic mitigation while the bridge was repaired, $2600. So insurance can be on your side, you just have to have the right insurance company. Oh, and this guy had a bad day at work, smoked his tires as he left (which got him terminated), and got stuck behind my truck doing 34 in a 35 mph zone. I was driving cautiously because the load in the back was rather high and left my truck in what I considered an unstable condition for higher speeds, especially around corners. Funny how much can happen on a three mile drive from the work site to a recycling yard.

After all he has video of the vehicle, and the side camera view of the driver. Driver claims to court he was not driving still has to pay as registered owner, then must either have a police report of the theft of the vehicle, dated before the incident, or sue the responsible party they lent the vehicle to instead.

#5 - the truck that disrupted the flow of traffic can be held liable, plus they can be charged for fleeing the scene.

I don't really have an issue with the person who stopped to let the driver in. I'll agree that it is typically a bad idea, since it can lead to accidents like that. In this case, though, it was a right turn only and he expected the person to pull in just ahead of him -- there shouldn't have been an accident risk. I can't blame the driver who stopped being nice, to let someone pull in, in front of him, when he likely had no reason to suspect that the idiot was going to turn left.

Just so you know, in most states racing is not determined by speed, only the fact it was a competition between 2 cars. Otherwise known as: Exhibition of speed is an umbrella term for several types of especially dangerous driving. It is most commonly associated with street racing but also including actions such as peeling out. Drag racing, timed racing, drifting, skidding and other similar activities are all covered by this offense.

On driving in the rain 🌧 1. Here in the USA, the legal limit for tire wear is 2/32 of an inch of tread depth. However, studies have shown that starting at twice that depth, 4/32 of an inch of tread, the risk of hydroplaning (and wet braking distance) increases significantly. Most new passenger vehicle tires for on-road use start of at (or near) 10/32 of an inch. 2. Driving at speeds of over 40 mph (64 Km/h) on a wet road also increases the hydroplaning risk. 3. Pickup trucks without any cargo in the bed are fairly prone to losing traction (rear wheels especially). I've heard that pickup drivers who live in snowy areas often throw a couple of sandbags in the bed to add weight over the rear wheels to help maintain traction in slippery weather conditions. In wet (and snowy) conditions, replace your tires before they reach the legal wear limit, slow down, leave more following distance, and pickup truck drivers should add some weight over the rear wheels if otherwise the bed is empty. And pay attention.
