I listened to this when it first dropped, finally made it back through your videos to this one and Magnum Band Remix is still in the rotation holy shit what a track Just in case you missed it make sure you check out Mach's feature on "I-78 / Capillaries" from DJ Preservation (insane project too) What did you think of Mach's Hard Lemonade? I think it was the first project that was a "new Mach-Hommy" project for me since I kind of discovered him right before it dropped. I think I wore it out when it first came out but listening to it now I really enjoy it.

Same bro! I be playing that magnum band remix more than the original. That sleepy hollow line so crazy 🔥🔥 I haven’t heard the whole project I gotta check it out but Mach was spitting on I-78. Bruh sound hungry af and I like hearing verses from him from time to time that are a little less heady and cryptic. I like both styles but sometimes I don’t wanna do 27 googles to get one line haha. I think it’s a great project. I do gotta say - with Mach - some of his projects I’ve sat down with for like multiple days tryna lookup all the references, making sure I hear all the lyrics right, etc and I haven’t don’t that yet with this project, but based on several listens I gotta say it’s in like that second tier of Mach projects. I think HBO, GAT, Dump Gawd, Dumpmeister, and Pray for Haiti are like S tier/top tier. Machs hard for me is top of the next tier with projects like bulletproof luh and tuez les tous (I think i love this project more than most). SBTM and marshmallow test are 2 of Mach’s best songs on streaming

I feel you on that - the first half kinda feels like Pray for Haiti part 2…I didn’t figure out the best comparison for the 2nd half though lol. Yeah bro I been way more interested in Haitian culture because of Mach. My reading hasn’t gone past Wikipedia lol but I’m def learning. I picked up a couple Haitian Creole phrases too…mostly how to cuss someone out but still. Yezzir I love it - I flip flop between that and Pray for Haiti as what I think is his best album. Im doing a reaction on it later this month as part of the listening to every Griselda album series.

Ay that actually would be a good one to react to. I’ve heard it but I didn’t really listen to it if that makes sense. Pray For Haiti and then Armand Hammer and The Alchemist’s “Haram” album are my top two. You should check out Armand Hammer if you haven’t, it’s a group of billy woods and ELUCID. Woods is probably the best underground rapper rn, lyrically. Also, add JPEGMAFIA’s album “LP!” To that list.
@BSideRapReviews
2 жыл бұрын
All 3 of those will prob be in my top 10 albums of the year. I got pray for Haiti as #1 slightly over the little Simz album. I got LP hovering around #4 or 5. I got Haram around 7, 8, or 9 but ima have to circle back. I think I got some street rap/coke rap bias so ima revisit Haram to make sure I give it a fair shake. Speaking of JPEG and Armand Hammer, did you catch that shot Peggy took at Armand Hammer on the song rebound?
@veniceismine1
2 жыл бұрын
@@BSideRapReviews I’ve been following the group and billy woods for awhile, woods for almost a decade. I feel like their album Haram is like the synthesis of all the projects that came before it. Not to mention the Alchemist is a wizard on top of how well every song slides into the next one. It’s just too good. Plus, woods and ELUCID (but mostly woods) have some amazing bars with layers and layers. To be fair I sat with the album for a long time. It’s one you have to take time out and listen to in full. Also, it’s the first album woods has actually released like verified lyrics for, and he’s been rapping since at least 2002 (like making albums). So I took it as they were super important. He’s similar to Mach in that he doesn’t show his face in videos, socials or anything. I only actually saw his full face when I went to their show. Sorry about the rant. My respect for woods and Armand Hammer runs deep. Coincidentally they are my most listened to this year, followed by Pray for Haiti and then JPEG’s EP2! Again, im also kind of biased towards very dense lyricism and afro-futuristic art, anti-capitalist art and all that. Which woods is very much those things. It goes Haram, Pray for Haiti, LP!, Hitler Wears Hermès: Side B, and Sometimes I Might Be Introvert in terms of rap this year. And just found out about that beef, apparently it’s been squashed though. It was between Peggy and ELUCID I think. REBOUND! is a great song too.

@@veniceismine1 haha nah bro we need to hear this rant! ✊🏾 I didn’t see the Al and Armand Hammer collab coming but it def make sense and you can’t argue with the results. I was super late to the party with Woods and Armand Hammer. Hiding Places was first album I heard by him but his imagery is so good and his delivery is so unique - dude is a gem in the game. I will say my only issue with Armand Hammer is I think Woods is better than Elucid and by a pretty decent margin. All those albums you made are in my top 10 for the year so far. Matter fact, P4H, Introvert, and LP! are my 1, 2, and 3 right now but it might change - ima go back and spend more time with the projects I haven’t listened to as much
@veniceismine1
2 жыл бұрын
@@BSideRapReviews he really is. He’s been making some of the best rap albums for the underground since he came back with History Will Absolve Me in 2012. And Hiding places is still in my most listened too. It’s definitely one of his best albums but his catalogue is solid. And I agree that woods overshadow ELUCID, but in my mind woods is very concerned about real, material things that are happening to him, his observations on it and ability to describe them perfectly. That being said, ELUCID raps a lot more about esoteric, spiritual things. Both of there rap styles are vastly different, in terms of subject matter and flows. They complement each other’s styles well. woods is the better of the two. I’d listen to Paraffin by Armand Hammer. ELUCID does a lot of production on that album and I think he’s better lyrically on that album. woods still beats him but it’s a closer composition. Those albums are all great, honestly. It was a good year in rap.
