This is my first video that I filmed and edited specifically to put on KZitem. I apologize for the choppiness as I am still figuring out the editing program. Machining 300 series stainless steel bars for a customer. While not a complicated part the hole location tolerance was tight (.001" total tolerance) and they had to be reamed to a close size. Once the hole pattern was placed using the mill an outer radius had to be machined on the ends of the bars. This was done on the lathe.
I had to use a small faceplate from my buddy's lathe (hence having to hold it with my three jaw) as my regular faceplate wouldn't allow the clamps to be close enough to the middle to expose the ends for machining. The target diameter on the OD of the bars was 8.000". It's hard to see the mic at the end but it was reading 7.9998", so pretty close.
The drill press that I chamfered the holes on is a Fobco 10-eight, made in England. It has a geared high and low range and can go as low as 50 rpm. It is one of my favourite machines in my shop and runs smoother than either of my milling machines. I really like the belt tensioning system on it.
Let me know what you think of the video, whether it's interesting or boring. I have a lot of work coming up in the next few months and I can post some of it if I think people will find it interesting.
