1:15 hey does anyone remember "honey I shrank the kids"? well how about "boss, I got stuck in the game"? a game where you the developer of a new half-done AAA title have to be helped by a bumbling middle manager who only got there by nepotism and luck while you the developer have only the ability to "advise" him on how to get you out of the game... as you can tell, it doesn't go well and the middle manager has to be managed as well so that he is willing to help you instead of harm you as you give him proper advice lest the wrong "game-breaking" bugs are utilized or he creates new foes. Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!

Bet, btw. A “bug” is called a bug, because a real bug got inside of a super early type of computer and messed stuff up, so this is hyper realistic gameplay

This gives me courage to try my hand at coding… I already work with complex formulas in Excel and know a little bit of how to write macros in it which is written in VBA language. (I figure that.. counts as some amount of experience xD) I guess I’m interested cuz.. I’ve been a gamer my whole life, make original digital music, can digitally draw, started learning pixel art & animating… Hm.. It’s still spooky thinking about it .. but your video helps me believe in myself with the skills I have. :3 thank you.

Coding is really fun actually and opens a lot of doors creatively, there are some fun things you can do with art, music, and whatever when combining it with programming. It's definitely worth it! Saul I absolutely love you so much. Your tutorials and passion you show really get me amped up to try my hand at things like gamemaker, as well as creating art in aseprite (even though I'm not very good lol). I appreciate all the tutorials you've made in the past, and hopefully will make in the future. I know you get these kind of comments a lot, but I genuinely cannot thank you enough for all you've taught me so far that most programs at my old high school could barely make me grasp. You are an inspiration to me, and I will remember your content the day I (hopefully) release my first indie game. p.s. I'd like to ask, are there any drawing tablets you would recommend for pixel art/art in general? I don't have much money but I'd like to hear the input of someone I consider very skilled and look up to p.p.s. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment
@saultoons
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks DuckToaster, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a nice message, it really makes my day to read this! :D I really wish you the best when it comes to your own work, keep cracking on!!!! In terms of drawing tablets for pixel art specifically, I only really use them when the pixel art is quite large, preferring the mouse for the individual pixels. For general digital art, you don't need anything too fancy to get started. The more expensive screen based tablets are nice but not necessary at all, I personally use a Wacom Intuous Medium, but started with a Wacom Bamboo. The non-screen based tablets take some getting used to, but a pro tip is to use it as a mouse so you quickly get used to it :) I've heard good things about the Huion and XP-Pen brands but haven't used them so I can't personally vouch for them. Thanks for watching :D

I had a "game-breaking" issue, so to say. I launched the game and full-screened it in my web browser. After playing it for a bit, I realized there was no way for me to back out because the game wouldn't stop capturing my keyboard input. With no way to "escape", I had to force close my browser with Task Manager - I had some other tabs open that I lost as a result. Very unfortunate that there being no "quit" option caused undue stress. It would be greatly appreciated if something that could prevent this be implemented so that others do not suffer the same conundrum.

I imagine this game but instead of typing you literally grab the code using the code like a hammer hitting the bugs away while still having to type the fake code (not the bugs that you have to type)

Depends on a lot of factors like your experience and stuff, but I would definitely recommend Godot it’s quite beginner friendly, their documentation is really good and there are more and more tutorials coming out all the time.

Congrats on making a game in a week! :) I think people who can make games in two days by themselves (for Ludum Dare for example) are in league with the devil. I found that I can make a prototype / demo in one month though some are finished (well, abandoned) as a full game. I do my regular job, and not all my weekends are free for developing, so these are mostly my weekday free hours. I do coding and drawing (pixel art of course!), most of the design , sometimes I make the sounds too, or use some bought assets. Definitely I use bought music, as any music I could make probably would be considered as crime against humanity. :D

Thanks Laszlo, yeah making a game in a short amount of time is so difficult and I wasn't sure that I'd be able to do anything actually haha, but it was a great learning experience and I hope to do more in the future. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate but I hope you can continue with it and do well
