This is my 2nd time making a worm farm. My first worm farm was way too small for the worms to grow and multiply in time to eat the poop my dog is making.
This time around, I got a bigger tub, 50 litres in fact. Worms are surface feeders and that means a bigger surface is going to help.
Also, I am cutting my down the budget. You can get live worms but worm eggs are cheaper. The only downside is that the eggs take 6-8 weeks to hatch. If you have the time, why not.
I am doing this as an alternative to my existing poop compost tub with holes at the bottom, buried a few inches into the ground, hoping to attract worms to eat the dog poop. So far, it's not working. Worms can be choosy.
Now that I have my worm farm with nothing but dog poop, I hope the confined worms will do their jobs.
