My question is that if you take your dog to the vet and have them vaccinated/ check for parasite is it still a consideration that there will be an issue? I am not 100percent sure my leaf mold is pet waste free.

Hi. Good job. Love your video . Very educational and earthly. I want to know if the worms from dog compost will carry the dogs parasitic worm to fish koi or chicken?

Great video Marty. Hope you're both well over there :) I've been composting our dog (and the foxes!) poo for years. Big red bin for danger keep out lol. I don't mix anything else with it though. It's exclusively for faeces and absolutely nothing else. Once done the finished compost is used on non fruiting bushes and flowers. I've read so many contradictory studies regarding the safety of finished carnivor and omnivor poop compost. Some saying the levels of toxic microbes after the worms are done are less than naturally occurs in the surroundng soil and others saying the opposite. So I err on the cautious side and just use it for non edibles but I would love to have a definitive answer. Mine sits for 12 months once it's finished before it's used anyhow so I keep thinking this is fine for the veg garden but then again ..... thanks for sharing Mate ... keep well and happy :)

Gday my friend, yes that's a super controversial subject for sure. Something I don't know a lot about myself. I think though once the worms have digested it all,,should be fine. I bet those non edible plants love it. Thanks for saying hi,,,Karin and I are both doing well. Send my regards to the family. God Bless Marty & karin

Hey Marty I'm so sorry I didn't even think about this earlier to let you know.' Check out a y/t channel 'OldAlabamaGardener' - a while ago I watched videos where he was showing step by step how to make a salve from Comfrey for healing bones. If you go onto his channel and search 'salve' it will show his videos on this topic .... and he's got heaps of other old style remedies. Smart fella this old man. Again sorry I didn't think about it earlier. All the best my friend.

Marty, what about when you worm your dog? Well in my case I use diatomaceous earth to worm my animals... will this kill the worms?. I currently have a compost bin in which I put their poo in, but I haven't added worms from my worm farm as I was concerned I might kill them. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom, Jade

@Being Human - I had the same question some years back when I got a bunch of worms for composting. I read that some worm farmers use DE to treat their earthworms for parasites, fungus, gnats, larva, etc. They said earth worms can digest DE particles. Good to know. ; )

That’s a great question,,definitely do not put that in there,,,when worming you’re dog. Kills the worms. This goes for any animal manure that has the possibility of being wormed with tablets.

@martysgarden - Hmm, then why to the worm farmers do it? I've read several of them where they've used it (food grade) and it hadn't harmed their worms. Have you had different results? Thanks, Marty.

Does adding worms to compost dog poops get rid of the pathogens from the poop?
@martysgarden

I would say so, but it's not recommended to use on edible plants

do the worms move the compost out of the bin over time or is there eventually a point when the bin is full and you have to pull out the compost and put it elsewhere? If so how do you remove the compost (it doesn't look like there is a lower exit)? And what would you use the compost for if it does have food waste? Also if you use it for cat waste, can you compost any litter or is there something specific you need to get for the worms to eat?

Hi, just wondering about cat poo for this style of bin. Also does bokashi spray or bokashi bran help or do the worms not like that. Cheers
