There are few places in Africa that can be described as being “Raw wilderness”. From the moment you touch down in Mana Pools, you sense that something about the area is different. Perhaps it is the open floodplains with massive trees dotted amongst them, or perhaps it is the elephants rambling amongst them, sometimes lifting high on their hind legs to reach the branches. Perhaps it is the campsite, situated on the banks of the Zambezi River with no one else about. Perhaps it is the elephants that come and feed in the tree above you as you are having your lunch. Whichever one of these it may be, Mana pools instantly touches something within you and makes you realise that you are in a different wilderness altogether.
