Good information on mango pollinators. In the Philippines we had bees to pollinate the mangoe trees in our backyard while here in florida my mangoes are pollinated by flies. Good information to know about different variety of mangoes had different pollinators. We took a trip to Miami for the international orchid show and on the way back home to Tampa we stop at Davies and bought 8 or nine different variety of mangoes. Can't wait for them to bloom and see what kind of pollinators will pollinate them.

My Dwarf Hawaiin has been frequented by numerous bees, wasps, and even flies. Nothing yet has been observed on the Glenn, Sugarloaf, or Julie flowers...

I just took another look, and there are flies all over the Glenn right now. The Dwarf Hawaiin seems to have been deserted. The flowers are drying up. None of the others are quite "ripe" yet.

My Florigon tree is blooming profusely now. I've noticed bees, wasps, flies, and moths pollinating the tree. I noticed the bees were most abundant in the morning and moths only at night. Flies of various types are the most common pollinator.

This was very informative. I have noticed that flies appear to be the main pollinators for my mangoes. I have avocados that are beginning to bloom as well. Interesting enough, I built a fly trap a few months ago not knowing that I was destroying the main pollinators for my orchard.

A very interesting piece. This is the first year that I've paid attention to pollinators on my Bailey's Marvel. It seemed like the bees were first, of course they are strong enough to open the sepals, followed by blow flies, house flies and some love bugs. Waiting on my Valencia Pride to start blooming.

Hi there. My family has a farm in Brazil and we used to induce pollination with wind, it worked well, but we noticed that the rate of no seed fruit increased. Do you know if there is any relation between this procedure and the production of no seed mangos? This is happening with Palmer and Tommy varieties.

Scientist are often wrong despite their fancy methods and equipment. 🤷 Edit: and typically they qualify their findings. E.g. "we have not found/observed be pollination our trees". 😉

Flies are accidental pollinators as well as other bugs lol!! So wild! Throw rotting fruit and peels and scrap veggies at base of trees and bugs will come! Or soak sugar cane in water under the tree lol or fish or if you're into that lllol
