I'm a 53 year old Black Man with tears in my eyes watching this and remembering back to when I was a kid and my parents were on the couch and my brother, sister and I were on the floor with blankets and a bowl of popcorn watching these shows... There once was a beautiful time when you watched family television and just loved life.... I miss being a child of the 1970's. It was the greatest! God Bless America!

I'm crying...I watch MTM on repeat and always get sad at the point where Rhoda moves and gets married. Yes, she got what she wanted, but Mary no longer had Rhoda right up the stairs from that fantastic apartment. Something was definitely lost after that and the new apartment just didn't have warmth. But what a great cast and great writing. I love the episode where Ted steals Mary's "first strapless gown" story for the writing class. The convoluted yarn Ted spun was some of the best comedy of the show. I would love to have the black embroidered, gold fringed kimono style jacket that Rhoda wore in only a couple of episodes.Oh, and most of Mary's gowns, but not the one Sherry the prostitute designed for her!!! (Mary rocked it btw) I didn't leave the house on many Saturday nights until the ending credits rolled.

Rosie got the first two MTM Show references wrong. 1) The fake garbage was in the “Best of Enemies”episode where Rhoda revealed at WJM that Mary had lied about graduating college. 2) In the Rhoda Dendron episode Rhoda borrowed more than $995. She originally asked for $995, but increased the request over the phone and Mary agreed.

Fantastic interview and lovely moments between Mary and Rhoda, er, Valerie. I've also memorized many of the episodes, and the great episode Rosie mentions re: Rhoda waiting for Mary to take down her trash isn't the one where Rhoda works with Mary on a show for Ted and Sue Ann with disastrous results (that's a different one). The heartwarming "take down the trash" scene is actually the one where Rhoda tells everyone at WJM that Mary never finished college (Mary lied on her application), even though Mary told her in confidence. Rhoda is unaplogetic, laughs off Mary's embarrassment, and Mary is genuinely hurt and angry and they really do have a falling out -- but miss each other terribly. Poor sweet Georgette gets awkwardly caught in the middle, trying to mend the friendship. If you haven't seen it, it's one of the best between these two wonderful actors and friends. Great writing, great acting, real life.
