I really appreciate the historical context you provide with each drink! Every drink tastes so much better after learning more about it

I had the pleasure of serving one of the heirs of the original Lillet family at my bar. I asked him this very question and he confirmed for me that when the family sold Lillet, the new owners modified the recipe to contain less quinine. Problem solved.

This drink is damn good. The cocchi americano & creme de cacao compliment the gin/lemon in such an interesting way

Tried this today and was pleasantly surprised. Any chance you did a Lillet / Cocchi comparison side by side? I'll have to try it tomorrow with the Cocchi to compare...

Lillet Blanc existed in parallel with Kina Lillet. Lillet's protest is that they never changed the recipe of Lillet Blanc, which is true.

From my understanding Kina Lillet was created in 1887 and production stopped in 1986. Lillet Blanc emerged in 1986 until the present. Apparently around '86 - '87 the Lillet website stated that they reformulated it to be less bitter. The company denies this but most of my reading sources say it did reformulate.

You're not really wrong because what lillet claims now is that the product only underwent a name change in the 1970's and that it is the same product. A lot of spirits professionals call bullshit on that, but they did not have two differnt products Kina Lillet and Lillet Blanc that were made simultaneously.

I was just thinking it would be awesome if you had a website with all your cocktails and videos. I have to go buy a bottle of and more obscure ingredient and it's not always easy to scroll through all your old videos and remember which one's used it so having a website that you can search by ingredient would be awesome

Another sick video, Leandro. I appreciate your knowledge of cocktails and how to craft them but you already knew that. Keep it up, man. I'm also enjoying my Barfly gear that came through the other day. Couldn't ask for better quality.

Unbelievably late to comment but I know people still watch these older videos. Im definitely not an expert myself, but I've heard people say that tempus fugit's kina l'aero is the proper substitute in situations like this.

How long you can keep cochi americano in fridge? Do you have any advices how to storage vermouths, lillets or any similar winę based alcohols? Last time I bought bottle of Lillet Blanc just for one cocktail and just wasted it.. I wish to keep them for months like campari or maraschino but they least for 2-3 months only. Of course I was looking for small bottles. Unfortunately they arent popular..

Use a wine preserver like Private Reserve. You spray it into the bottle and the heavier gasses push out the oxygen which prevents oxidisation!

I'll have to sub the cocchi as I can't find it here (Lillet neither). Is it more similar to Martini Dry or Bianco? Oh, and does white creme de cacao taste the same as the dark one?
@TheEducatedBarfly
5 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Feijó there is a slight difference in flavor between light and dark Creme de cacao but it’s almost imperceptible and depends on the brand really also if You can find French Blanc Vermouth that could be somewhat of a stand in for cocchi americano but it will be a lot dryer and less sweet
