Audacity? He's literally popular solely because he's good looking, of course he thinks he can get away with it. People have done experiments with Tinder accounts where they put in the bio that they were in prison for r*pe of a minor and they still get an insane amount of matches because the pics used are of male models. They even make sure the girl knows when they start the conversation, in case they didn't read the bio. Most had already read it and were fine with someone who diddled little kids, all because they're attractive. And while he's a shitty person, it is the hypergamous behavior of a large group of people that facilitates it.

I love dark humor. I view life as a tragedy worthy of finding something to laugh about within the pain. When the joke is “HA! Many women get hit by their partners! HA! Some women like crystals, and I find them silly, so I’ll bring it up as a way to brush past excusing abuse,” I don’t see that as dark comedy. You’re not joking about the situation as much as making a joke about a victim. I have so many theories for what drives this behaviour. I believe a big part of it is because men view women they’re sexually attracted to as objects. So if their fans are sexually attracted to them they can’t possibly actually like their work. I think Matt also gives away another reason in his “crystal girls” joke. “The things women like are stupid, they’re not valuable, so it’s insulting and embarrassing to me that they’re my audience.” Being someone who’s work is enjoyed by women, especially young women, is demeaning to these men.

that's why the whole "being not like other girls" is a thing. bc when girls/women like something that's "girly", men mock them for it, so they opt to like the opposite things in hopes of being accepted, and it's really unfortunate. women should be able to just like what they like without fear of criticism or hate, but men will find anything to pick on. you like crystals and astrology? you're crazy, stupid and annoying. you like cars and mechanics? you're too masculine and a try hard. women literally cannot win

You're also right about "the joke has to be funny otherwise it's offensive/cringe". I use a power wheelchair and there are certain "jokes" people pull all the time ("you got a license for that?", "don't speed!", etc), after a while you realize people are making the "joke" to deal with how uncomfortable it is for them for you to exist around them. However, I've also had people (mostly my sibling) make genuinely funny jokes about my chair that actually relate to the moment in the same way people make jokes about other features of the environment.

How many women went into streaming and people pointed out they couldn't care less about games and were just attractive and trying to milk teenagers and loner, horny men for their money, and they were attacked as "misogynist" for pointing this out? Turns out, quite a lot of those popular streamers do OnlyFans now and don't even do Twitch streams anymore. How shocking, no one could possibly have seen this outcome... No one is going to be called a misandrist for pointing out Rife really isn't funny and is only popular because of how he looks, because it's obviously not about all men just like the comments about streamers weren't about all of them.

Just the same old jokes where people really only laugh cause "haha wild and offensive" "haha agrees with my political views" "haha snowflakes wont like this." It's the same jokes over and over with a bit of differences. And what's really sad is how desperate he clearly is to have a male audience and how insecure he is that he has a female audience. It's honestly more pathetic than anything. But I know the second it's one of these people in trouble for "telling jokes" then it's just gonna be the same jokes everyone has heard. Why is Matt so against admitting that it was mostly women that got him where he is?
@victoriafrombhbh8659

Men don’t do things to impress women, they do things to impress other men. Matt was getting teased by other dudes for not being a “real” comedian because women are his fan base. It’s an eye roller that this was his “fix”
@CanadianEhHole

@@victoriafrombhbh8659 This is 100% factually incorrect. Men do most things to attract women, some things to impress men (but usually guys see those things as impressing women as well -- even if it isn't accurate). Every bit of psychological research proves this and this is even well known to men in laymen's terms and memetic info. Look at any post regarding a guy playing a sport in front of his crush and it presents it as him trying to have his best game ever, trying to play like an absolute pro.

For the same reason female streamers for over a decade now have fought against the argument that they're only popular because a lot of teenage boys and single men find them attractive. It's tough to acknowledge the reason for your success isn't what you did but simply of how you look, because most of that is genetic and was just out of your control. It's like being popular because of where you're from... which was entirely out of your control.

@@CanadianEhHole Men want to attract women cause that will give them male validation. Men do stuff to get other males to validate them as real men and women in their eyes, are the social currency to turn a boy into a real man. However, there is one thing that men collectively hate, a pretty man with a female fanbase. That's why Matt desperately wants to change his image to fit in and get acceptance of the bros. TLDR: Man who b@ngs many chicks = Chad! Man with a female fanbase = Ha! g@y!!!

I’m genuinely tired of the “you can’t tell jokes anymore” crowd. If you really couldn’t tell jokes anymore, you wouldn’t be selling out stadiums, or getting Netflix specials, or making tons and tons of money. However, I think they say this because that’s the easiest way to ingratiate yourself into a conservative audience. You just say “I’m the only one brave enough to joke about [insert offensive topic here]” and conservatives will flock to your content. Because it’s not that you can’t make those jokes, it’s that you have to pretend you’re being oppressed for saying things that aren’t acceptable, when the reality is that you’re receiving valid criticism. To a conservative, there’s nothing “braver” than continuing to purposely offend people and punch down despite being told it’s inappropriate.

One observation I made is that most of our favorite comedians will joke about themselves just as much as they do other people. They’ll be the punchline as often as other people are. With Matt Rife’s jokes, basically every single one makes someone else (usually from a marginalized group) the punchline to laugh at.

@@Jaldricthe point of comedy is to make people laugh Sometimes you will get both a shocked “oooh” and a laugh from the same people, at the same time. He looks... plastic. But he is attractive. That's literally why he's so popular. The issue is you probably don't find the "model" aesthetic as attractive as others. I have this same view.
