I was at the pride fest Blaire was at here. The drag queen in white and pink is called Extra. She's one of the Austin area's drag darlings. She performed to Somebody To Love, which is especially funny because they announced that she had just gotten married! Maxine LaQueen, the Suspiciously Large Woman that was in her thumbnail and gave her a hug, is another of Austin's drag treasures and an outspoken trans rights activist. She was at the Capitol last year protesting SB14, our ban on gender affirming care for children, and was SURROUNDED BY POLICE before being kicked out with the rest of us. Her top priority in these sorts of situations is making conservatives uncomfortable. Ben is one of the main staples of any progressive protest in and around Austin. He's always there keeping people safe, helping to explain what's happening to new people, offering support and love where needed, and organizing an autonomous collective into a group of people keeping EACH OTHER safe. He is one of my personal heroes, and the Veterans For Equality alongside him are an indication that not only are we gonna be safe, but that we're keeping OURSELVES safe. It's wonderful. Blaire acts as though everyone there was being unreasonable and awful to her for Just Asking Questions, lamenting what the world has come to. In reality, this is simply how the Austin area queer community operates. We take care of each other, we engage only when necessary, and we offer love and support where needed. I love this city, I love this community, and I don't know what Blaire was thinking was gonna happen, I mean she moved here in 2021, she has to at least have been to 4th Street by now.

If the wold was how they actually "want" it, they couldn't stand the monotony and lack of true fun or entertainment, cuz they gaslight themselves that everything is bad, he neeeeeeds strife and conflict to feel anything Sorry, needed to edit comment cuz of grammar

I knew I liked girls from the baby carrier. I've been told I flirted with women even as a baby, but I also know that I was sexually attracted to girls in the first grade. However, even with that attraction, I started thinking about being a girl at the same time. This was in the 1970s. I've never embraced those feelings. I'm still an AMAB CIS male. My female feelings are confined to characters in video games and in my fantasies. But I was raised on a street inhabited by the "high class call girl" next door and her two sons, the Hells Angel across the street and the one on the street corner. Never saw a trans person. Didn't know it was possible, but feeling that I wish I was a girl. These feelings didn't come from indoctrination or through seeing it around me. It's always been there.

The whole military has been anti-LGBTQ+ for a long time but gay Sailor jokes are practically as old as time in the U.S. One of the Village Boys dressed as a Sailor to reference the “scandals” Sailors were known to do at the YMCA-which was gay stuff mostly. Every branch has always had secret gay stiff going on because you spend a lot of time around other men or women, all in the same compartment, working and living and even showering together or at the very least sharing the same shower spaces. I was a Sailor so i follow the U.S. Navy instagram and they’re very pro-pride now. That’s not why recruitment numbers are suffering though! 😂

"is there a trans group..." uhh. you never quite finished that question but asked something along those lines, and well... the answer's yes. Not only to are there trans people ignorant of her.. but there are trans people who follow her. I've stumbled on at least one on twitch.I clicked in there, realised she was watching BW's stuff. Straight up asked her "wait, are you seriously just casually watching BW's videos?" and her response... "Yes, totally, I love BW!! I'm a huge fan of her!"... it was honestly horrifying seeing an older trans woman getting so giddy fanning over BW. And I can't 1:1 say it for sure, but.. she did look suspiciously like the larger woman in the pink dress/blouse/frilly top with the sunhat near the beginning.

I don't think "hate" is an adequate term. "Hate" implies intimacy, whereas the reason people project all these aspersions is because they have had no meaningful contact with the group in question at all. Orwell summed this up really well in _Road To Wigan Pier- where he explained that the ruling class doesn't hate the lower class and are perfectly amiable with them in any situation where they get to know them personally. All these vague sentiments of contempt towards "them" is really just all of the aspects of themselves which they have disowned. It's the same with racism. White colonials treated the impersonal and distant black cultures and populations like animals so that they could attack the very intimate hatered they had for the savagery within themselves. What we've been calling "hate" ireally serves to isolate the bigot from the object of his disdain. If they saw these things for what they were and not for the image they'd projected into them, they would sympathize with them and there would be no hatred. Hate is only an appropriate term in so far as it conveys that actiosn base don these attitudes are disagreeable and should be condemned. But it doesn't capture the aspect of what's actually happening.

"they are strong and winning" to scare the audience and make them more hatef "they are loosing and we are turning back to normal" to make the audience hopefully and not nihilistic. It's a delicate ballance of manipulation, to know when to scare, and when to encourage. "we aren't homophobic, phobia means fear" Regardless of the fact phobia can also mean aversion, yes, they are fearful, fearful that the world is changing and that they are in danger of loosing rights or whatever. And since all the grifters know it's fear (even subconsciously) they need to make sure that the fear is a motivator, and not that it will make them depressed, so they need to both build up the "danger" and make it seem like it can be defeated at the same time. Like fr, it's really impressive manipulation

I was all in until the opioid comparison. Opioids are less toxic on the body & brain than alcohol & many other completely legal substances. What about all the pain patients who can't get opioids now? What about people who benefit from opioids who now have to live with a worse quality of life? I find it ironic that people who are usually so pro-choice & bodily autonomy never wanna address this issue or talk about it. It also takes some lack of awareness if you admit that the medical industry once incentivized pushing opioids to get people addicted but don't think they wouldn't do the same thing with vaccines or HRT. Apparently "my body, my choice" is only relevant to some issues.
