Should had happened along time ago when shelters were shut down on them, and they had to camp in tends on the cold, then funds were given to police to take them off the parks. Then money was offered for them to disappear up North, where no resources where there for them. These are people of our communities. Son and daughters of our friends, grandparents of our children, our doctors, artists, our neughbours. They are not any strangers. They were made out of rising up rents, decrease jobs, laws made for the rich to live and the poor become the homeless.

Get rid of Trudeau and Singh, and 90% of the taxes we pay in this country and homeless Ness will go away. Spend on Canadians only.

blame the government, you would have mental health problems too, if you were homeless.

i promise you things will get worse if current policies of "harm reduction" and "safe supply" continue unabated. the core issue is not housing affordability but drug addiction and mental illness. it's not about money but about policies and measures that would address underlying causes instead of those that directly and indirectly perpetuate the problem by helping to feed addictions.

As long as the drug market is as lucrative as it is when things are illegal we will have no end of people willing to take the risk, especially during a housing crisis. When I hear people like you on forums, I wonder if you are a part of that system, and are trying to mislead to keep things profitable for the drug trade. I read of one person saying if they can't find a job soon they will start selling crack. There are different facets that need to be considered. There are different levels to this crisis it is the individual, and society. We have working methods to deal with the individual which include medicine-assisted treatments to reduce urges without getting them high, and after detoxification, long-term treatment programs, and counselling. Very effective when these things are in place. When things become a crisis, it is a problem with our society and we need to search for what that problem is and address it at a societal level. It's more powerful then the individual. Housing, it needs to be affordable, and humane, and there needs to be enough to go around. Many people start taking drugs after they become homeless, and many more never take drugs. Affordability. Vulnerable people are the first to become homeless. A $1200, 1 bedroom apartment will take 60 hours of work at 20 dollars an hour to pay the rent. Then what do they eat. We need to address why are things unaffordable, and why salaries are too low. Money laundering. This is how precursors for synthetic opioids are getting in the country, and why our real estate is so expensive. We are a money laundering hub in the World and the lack of urgency on this not only hurts and kill regular Canadians it is starting to effect our allies. And they're noticing.

They money launder their drug profits and buy more synthetic opioid precursors, and real estate. If we get rid of harm reduction and safe supply what do we have then? A $130, 000 a year for a prisoner that's waiting to get out and do more drugs. Therapy in prison is ineffective. The life span of a homeless person in Alberta is 5 years, but you wouldn't notice because they are quickly replaced.
