she is so much more than just another great black voice. Something about here is different. I love her combo of confidence and humility. There was never a genre that caused her to stumble. Brilliant every time!!!

Melinda is like a supernatural singer and performer. She can take any song and make it her own. I think she's one of greatest singers of all time.

The thing is... a performance like that says more about the frailties of American Idol than the Greatness of Melinda Doolittle. WOW she shudda won AI6. Further, the Great MD is good enough to win any and all AI Series ...!!!

I liked Blake because of his originality, and Jordin was definitely a great singer, but Melinda should have won. She was by far the best singer in that season of American Idol, maybe in all of the seasons.

I was a Blake & Doolittle fan but here I am ten years later enjoying Melinda's vocals. I haven't really paid attention to Blake since his debut album.

Melinda was so humble that she had it in her head that she was not as good a singer as everyone knows she is. Simon was telling her to acknowledge this fact.

C'mon, Simon, Melinda has been owning herself since Heaven Knows. ;-) He didn't need to say (4:06) "lose the surprise." Manners, please, sir? This performance was definitely the sassy-side of Ms. Doolittle. Please, please, please record this, Melinda! Your slower, funkier version (especially that breakdown at 2:49) will sell!! ;-)

@avatarzurc, he actually told Melinda to lose the whole "What, I'm a great singer?". That's what he meant- lose the suprise factor and own the fact that she was/is a bad ass performer with a bad ass voice.
